@elvenmaidinn "Any humanoid form" seems pretty clear to me, even with height and weight limitations. They remain a sucubbus, and shape changing to a male doesn't make them a "male succubus" or incubbus or anything, it just means they can wear a disguise.

@Gingerblast Reading the responses highlights a ton of good arguments on either side. As long as the dice roll is abstracting something useful, I think that matters a lot more than whether it will auto succeed or fail. Sometimes that means calling for a roll and sometimes not.

Biggest D&D downgrade:

ODND: 100xp/HD

ADND: Killing 100 goblins single-handedly does not provide a fighter the “experience” to level up unless there’s treasure.

This makes for a fundamentally different game.

I’ll die on the hill that combat is a fun-state!

@ExeterSlayers Given that we don’t have shared universal cultural references anymore it’s really hard to stick to standard tropes, so every open play table and every new player is a minefield. Safety tools are a streamlined legalistic solution but they address real issues.

@ExeterSlayers So I don’t use safety tools and don’t see any need, but I get why they’re used given how most (especially new) people play D&D. Many 15-20something yo players do use D&D as supplemental therapy, are wildly socially underdeveloped, and start playing with strangers.

I find it interesting that there is no opposite of “evil.” Good is not the opposite of evil, good is the opposite of bad. Evil is a step beyond bad, an absolute state of archetypal wrongness, but a step beyond good is just “great.” “Great” can define a meal but “evil” can’t.

Change is a metaphysical bad. Maybe necessary at times, the current status may even been metaphysically worse, but outside the most extreme cases it is metaphysically absolutely unquenchably bad. It can't be mitigated There isn't improvement Pretending otherwise is profitwashing.
