Not quite sure if this is just a very specific experience, but in Germany Ibuprofen is cheap, we always have a couple of boxes sitting at home and take them whenever needed, including a hangover. Nobody ever tried to sell me herbal tea when I asked for Ibu at the pharmacy. Maybe you just have weird friends.

Because your are required to pay Import-VAT if you buy a new one internationally and immediately bring it back to Europe. For Germany thats 19% - which is the main driver for the price difference anyway.

If you fail to declare and the customs catch you (happens more often than you think) you pay VAT + a penalty.

Wenn man einen öffentlichen Platz überhaupt bekommt. Rechtsanspruch auf Kita-Platz gibt es zwar, aber das schliesst auch private ein. Als wir vor 10 Jahren in München einen Platz gesucht haben, hat uns die Stadt eine Kita vorgeschlagen die deutlich > 1000 Euro gekostet hat. Für uns zu teuer? Pech gehabt, wenn man nicht möcht, dann ist der Rechtsanspruch verwirkt. Kannste dann selber was suchen.

I can understand the sentiment if you are from not from the south, but you can tell him that Munich has been governed by SPD for the last 50 years, so Munich is not like Bavaria. Its a completely different animal and actually great to live in. I am from NRW and lived in M for 17 years.
