The @SpectrumNews1TX team had no water. They didn’t have heat. Or food.
The one thing they had: a platform - and a community who was hurting.
So despite the odds- the team rose up.
Because they know - bringing information is power. And providing hope keeps you warm.
Threats were being made to @ERCOT_ISO top brass, using bio data from its website, says CEO. So they pulled the info, but in hindsight, says it was a mistake so they're putting it back up. #TexasPowerOutages
Steve just asked me what my impression of the mayor was...AND I DID AN IMPRESSION OF A MAYOR. So, that’s the level of my function after three days of trying to keep an infant warm/work with no power.
Shout out to my @SpectrumNews1TX colleagues all across the state who've been hard at work sharing these absolutely heartbreaking experiences Texas families are going through. Our @lupezapata spoke to a mother and her daughter forced to stay warm in their cars.
Recognizing this boil notice presumes you have power & water, @MySAWS has agreed to work with area partners on a method to get folks water.
They will have more news on that soon.
H2O quality remains high. This is a precautionary notice, especially if your pressure has changed.
Posting again b/c it's worth reading the whole release/order yourself.
As 4+ million Texans go to bed without power, a state regulatory agency decided to update its pricing model "b/c energy prices should reflect scarcity of the supply." #TexasPowerOutage https://t.co/Mc3uNeluOd
I agree with Speaker @DadePhelan on the need for hearings on the factors that lead to electric generation being dropped off the grid and subsequent blackouts. We must stop the finger-pointing and get to the bottom of this critical matter.
Just an FYI, five members of the ERCOT board of directors live out of state. the chair lives in Michigan and the vice chair is an economics prof in Cologne Germany. Experts, but not people affected by the failure.
We should be able to restore some customers this afternoon due to additional wind & solar output, & additional thermal generation that has told us they expect to become available. But, the amount we restore will depend on how much generation is actually able to come online.
How are you, Texas?? We’re going on hour 20ish without power at my house in downtown SA. Charging devices in the car and having trouble keeping them on with the temps. Keeping this baby warm is priority one! What a wild time...
Weather, more generation outages last night bring load shed to 18,500 MW. For today…generators to return, renewable output to increase = increased customer restoration.
