We're so proud of CIRCLE grantee @LENAEarlyTalk and all they have accomplished in one year w/ the #CIRCLEGrant!
The grant is funded by @COEarlyChild (CDEC) thru the federal American Rescue Plan and CRRSA Act. We are partnering with CDEC to administer the CIRCLE grant program.
Thanks to support from @EarlyMilestones, @LENAEarlyTalk supported a 115% increase in the number of dual language learners served by LENA Grow. Increasing conversational turns while respecting cultural and linguistic identity is incredibly important--what a transformative grant.
No matter what your stance is on the prerequisites for aid (employment, here)--our current policies harm children. How can we expect better generational outcomes for kids if we don't support the generation caring for them? https://t.co/BaLAouHosh

@KatieAlbitz I’m glad you’re bringing this up. We’ve been revisiting the idea of a “deficit based” versus “strengths based” framing & it seems like maybe it’s time to directly acknowledge there are real problems and “doom & gloom” should be a motivator & not an insult.
Great brief! I’d love more info on what data to look at when planning, like here: “For other considerations, there is a min level that all cities should aim to meet; …evidence suggests that preschool rooms should have a max of 20 students w/ a max ratio of 1 adult:10 children.”
Our latest policy brief outlines 9 key components to consider when planning a new preschool program or enhancing an existing program! Read the brief now!

“Innovation to help students make progress should be the default, not an act of permission granting from bureaucrats.” How about we dispense with policies that we need to circumvent in order to serve students?
"School districts have limited capacity and capabilities to begin with. For a state to offer relief from restrictive policies and regulations through a set of waivers adds more effort and complexity to what’s already a heavy lift." https://t.co/E5B9mZUWkb

.@PorterLeath has a waiting list of teachers for LENA Grow, where they can see child-by-child how much interaction each is receiving. Heard last week this was true in NYC for FCC providers, too, because parents wanted to learn more about their child's childcare experience.
