MALDIGO LA POESÍA DE QUE QUIEN NO TOMA PARTIDO HASTA MANCHARSE

No pronunciarse, no comprometerse, no tomar partido por las víctimas, es un gesto de deplorable cobardía. Especialmente, cuando eres una figura pública. Muchos escritores y artistas parecen más preocupados por el éxito de sus creaciones que por el sufrimiento de los niños en Gaza, la Cañada Real o Sudán.

Feroze Sidhwa, un cirujano estadounidense que ha trabajado en Gaza en dos ocasiones como voluntario tras el 7 de octubre, relató a los miembros del Consejo de Seguridad de Naciones Unidas que tuvo que realizar intervenciones sin esterilidad, electricidad ni anestesia: “Los niños murieron, no porque sus heridas fueran insuperables, sino porque carecíamos de sangre, antibióticos y los suministros más básicos de los que se dispone fácilmente en cualquier gran hospital del mundo. Durante las cinco semanas que pasé en Gaza no vi ni traté a ningún combatiente. Mis pacientes eran niños de seis años con metralla en el corazón y balas en el cerebro, mujeres embarazadas con la pelvis destrozada y el feto partido en dos en el útero".

En estos momentos, se echan de menos voces críticas como la de Bertrand Russell, encarcelado a los 89 años en Estados Unidos por participar en las protestas contra la guerra de Vietnam y contra el armamento nuclear. Hoy, con un genocidio en marcha en Oriente Medio y un demagogo en la Casa Blanca apoyando los crímenes de Netanyahu con la aquiescencia de la UE y Reino Unido, los versos de Gabriel Celaya se revelan particularmente clarividentes: "Maldigo la poesía de quien no toma partido hasta mancharse". Benditos sean los que se manchan y que la indignad caiga sobre los que callan.
