The hidden cost of 'dredging'. Farmer 'A' up stream clears debris along a 'stretch' of his river, reducing flooding incidents there. The power and velocity of the water getting to Farmer 'B' downstream is eroding the bank at an alarming rate and causing his farm to shrink!
Farmers in Wales have put together an open letter to the Welsh Government on the Sustainable Farming Scheme.
We need the right support to put farming on a secure path.

We badly need undisturbed space for our threatened shorebirds and gulls. Too often dogs off leads disturb them. At Goodwick, West Pembrokeshire beach zoning is for people and dogs. Shorebirds are totally ignored and face endless disturbance. Many of these species are on Red List!
"Welsh Water chief got £20k pay rise as firm illegally spilled raw sewage into rare dolphin habitat."
Can anyone please name just one other industry were you get a £20,000 pay rise for being completely shit?

HS2: The secret files that expose a multibillion-pound cover-up. Fancy that. #HS2 is even worse than we thought and its how long construction will continue to emit Co2 for the rest of the century. A collective failure of parliament, govt and media.

Has UK govt given up listening to its experts? First Committee on Climate Change, now National Infrastructure Commission. Govt plans to push ahead with hydrogen for home heating despite resounding “no, that’s a very silly idea” (my paraphrase) from NIC https://t.co/Y5RdBrFP3W
Any claim that #HS2 is an England and Wales scheme is over. It is clear that HS2, or the remnants of it, is an England-only scheme.
The UK Government now needs to step up and give Wales the money we are already owed from this failed project
The #RWC2023 has been an excellent platform for building on our relationship with France during the year of #WalesInFrance.
From our business and cultural links, to our languages and people - there's so much to be proud of.
And of course, allez les rouges! 🏴
A few media outlets are picking up this story & making it prominent, but many are not. This is massive, especially considering discussions going for decades about the risk of an abrupt climatic shift. Might @JimSkeaIPCC have a comment?
Good to visit #Cleethorpes for launch of "King's Series" of National Nature Reserves (NNRs)
"All our previous NNRs, designated during Her Majesty's rein, are crucial for conservation" says @TonyJuniper@NaturalEngland
"The new King's Series will focus on nature's recovery"
Amongst many highlights of yesterday’s amazing #WainwrightPrize was meeting the legendary ecologist Sir John Lawton. We spoke about temperate rainforests & Sir John told the room:
“I was very sad to see the @RSPBEngland back down from their tweets… Politicians lie.” Applause!
PERFECTION! 😍 This is how EVERY countryside hedge & verge should look. Laden with a bountiful supply of food to help our #wildlife through the winter months & acting as a perfect corridor for wildlife to move through our all too often barren landscape. Not flailed, not battered & certainly not stripped of a natural resource. And before anyone says it, NO, they don’t need to be cut back for safety reasons or access to dredge what pitiful remains of floral diversity may be clinging on in the bottom of a dyke, only for the dredged material to smother the wildflowers in the verge & supposedly to allow water to drain away more freely. Land owners please take note, the above picture should be the end goal, not perfectly trimmed boxes and vegetation flailed to the ground. This land owner has got it spot on, whether accidental or not, this hedge has reached maturity and won’t get any bigger, so in fact doesn’t need any management and will cost land owners less. Win win! #LetNatureLive
