@ICOnews Hi. If I select "No" six times to @Philips request that I agree to data collection, do they have the right to make my two-year-old TV unusable by popping up the same request every thirty seconds until I agree?

@ICOnews The TV is two years old. Why should I have to agree to new terms to continue using it after so long? And using a TV doesn't require data collection, does it? Just think logically here. It's a device to display a moving picture, fundamentally no different from a PC monitor.

@PhilipsCare Could you please tell your Devs that when someone turns on their TV, they're probably intending to use it, not be forced to deal with update spam and pop ups trying to force them into agreeing to data collection.

@PhilipsCare The only thing I could do to fix it was to accept your data collection demands because you wouldn't stop bothering me until I did. Pretty sure that's in violation of data protection laws, since you can't badger someone into accepting data collection like that.

@PaulbernalUK I imagine it's some overly literal interpretation of advertising. BBC won't "advertise" content on ITV. ITV won't "advertise" programming on another channel that doesn't have a commercial agreement with them.

I'm not the biggest fan of the licence fee, but I'll give BBC all the credit for the picture quality on Sky Stream being considerably better than ITV, and offering HDR through iPlayer on the platform. ITV continues to feel like a pound shop broadcaster.
