Senior Security Engineer @ Wise (they/them or he/him). Tech, trains, and Taylor Swift. #ActuallyAutistic, probably #AuDHD. Views my own unless stated otherwise.
@just_some_dev The lack of log is a feature. e.g. I've seen folks drop Slack message retention to e.g. 90 days to reduce the amount of data being logged. _Apparently_ it's to make discovery easier (by reducing the volume of data) during litigation, but...
@Ryanair hi team! I agreed to pay €12.50 for a meal deal, but it looks like you charged my card £11.63 / €13.47 instead. Could you explain how this happened? The reader didn't have an amount showing – perhaps foolishly I assumed that you would charge what we agreed...
@TomTugendhat It would be very easy for websites to not display cookie warnings (e.g. https://t.co/y0PSDaHaBd) but the urge to track users across the internet is just too strong...
@just_some_dev I get what you're saying, but fundamentally visa waivers are for the 99% of travellers who are entirely uncontroversial. If you think that you might prove controversial in the country you're visiting, it's a good idea to get a "full" visa before travelling.
@BrokenBritain_7@Captain_Deltic@ChimeWhistle Not getting paid while on strike is punishment enough. If a large group of employees are willing to go without pay because they think they deserve a better deal then they're a reasonable chance that they have a point.
and the whole reason i even looked at this in the first place was because last month i realized msi vibecoded the drivers for their $5090 usd gpu (horribly, might i add!), and left a whole bunch of internal chat history exports in the asar bundle
@TfL hi team! Am I right in thinking that TfL bus services all charge the same pay as you go fares, even when they're operating outside London? (e.g. the 405 in Redhill)
@MrFyrea@Sir_Moanalot_@BenZaranko Hang on, I thought we were grumpy about 2 year commits because they were too long... Are you saying that folks want to be locked into broadband contracts for 3 years, 5 years, or even longer?
@MrFyrea@Sir_Moanalot_@BenZaranko There aren't any residential broadband contracts with a commit of longer than 2 years – you're imagining / hallucinating these 3 year contracts. And yes, telcos prefer committed customers so offer larger discounts vs folks on 12 month or 1 month rolling commits.
@Sir_Moanalot_@BenZaranko Even phone airtime contracts are restricted to 24 months (for consumers), although phones have got more expensive so 36 month handset loans are available. And you can go for a shorter contract, but telcos generally like locked in customers so a shorter commit is more expensive.
@BloodyRobert@SouthernRailUK Looks like there's a 3½ minute pathing allowance between East Croydon and Selhurst – and then if the train arrives early at Selhurst then it still can't leave until the scheduled departure time.
