I found a smartphone buried inside the wall of my apartment.

It wasn't old.

It wasn't damaged.

It was fully charged.

The wallpaper was a photo of my front door...

Taken that same morning.

The builders were renovating the flat next door when they accidentally broke through a section of my living room wall.

Wedged between the bricks was a sealed metal box.

Inside it was a modern smartphone.

No dust.

No cracks.

It looked like someone had hidden it only hours earlier.

There was just one problem.

The wall hadn't been opened in over thirty years.

My baby started crying while i was looking for the diaper cream that was always kept in the second drawer of the dresser.

i opened the drawer.

it wasn’t there.

the diapers had been moved, the clothes were sorted by color, and even the medicines that stayed in a closed container had been put into a different cabinet.
i called for my husband and asked:
“who went through the nursery?”
my mother-in-law appeared with a smile.
