@mdlizs And I fully recognize that there are some at VCU who would think I didn’t take my own advice but training is even less conducive (another problem) and we all see more clearly after making it through the storm. Put your life jacket on 1st!
@mdlizs I’m so sorry for all you’re going through but want to add that you are in no way obligated to give a rationale for taking time to recharge. I know we (docs) struggle with it in ways that others don’t quite get but you should NOT have to feel guilty/apologize. Need to normalize it
@mdlizs Yeah I was pretty dumbfounded. Yes, your PCP referred you to a specialist nurse doctor for your lung disease. The confidence in her compliment got me the most lol. Good thing I was wearing a mask to at least partially hide my facial expression! 😅
@mdlizs Crazy how so much of the bias comes from other women… my favorite was at the end of a pulmonary new pt visit, my female pt said “I think it’s just so great you went all the way to getting your doctorate of nursing”. Compliment?🤨🤯

Awhile ago, on a triage call: “I’ve got a guy here, pretty young, came in looking terrible. GCS 4, we intubated him. Scan shows a big bleed. ICH score 4. Not sure much you’ll be able to do, but need to transfer him.”
A #tweetorial about the ICH score. @medtweetorials
AMA president says he’ll continue masking indoors regardless of CDC’s updated guidance and recommends others do the same to protect those at higher risk:
Powerful and honest 🧵 re-counting just a FEW of the realities of being a patient in the ICU. Well worth the read for everyone.
COVID is now preventable. Trust me, a couple of 💉are better than this.
Being “healthy”🚫= protection

The perception that male surgeons are more “competent” than female surgeons is so common that even I have wondered in the past if there was any truth to it.
So here is a thread comparing physicians of the two genders. 1/5
Thought of the day:
The current interest rate on federal student loans is 6.8%.
The average medical student graduates with around $200,000 of debt.
In real terms, for the average medical graduate, their student loan balance is increasing by $1.55 per HOUR.
@ETSshow Don’t think I’d put myself in the category of artist but do enjoy drawing (even if copy-drawing a favorite book cover). Thanks for this 🧵 -a fun reminder of what I’ll hopefully get back to post-🫁boards!
What a cool study! Anyone who ❤️’s 🎵 knows it can transport you to a different place & has💪emotional impact.
Why not use it to ⬇️ anxiety & sedatives in the ICU? I’d ❤️ to add it to our non-💊 interventions @VCU_PCCM@crit_caring_MD@MichaeLheureux@DrJaredDyer @lkbrath
