During every sports riot I witnessed on the common Bpd just. fucking stood there. and watched. They rarely (if ever) intervened. But a group of a hundred college kids leading a peaceful demonstration in songs & chants? Somehow that is a threat to public safety? Last night it was solely the POLICE who destroyed the peace and instigated violence. Anyone claiming differently is lying to themselves, including Mayor Wu and Jay Bernhardt.

I watched student organizers go out of their way to ensure pedestrians could safely pass protesters on the sidewalk of Boylston St the whole night. They granted access to the alley to anyone who wanted to pass through. The effort was so well organized, and again, PEACEFUL—that did not matter to the hordes of police in riot gear who started plowing through the crowds of protesters shortly before 2:00am this morning. #EmersonCollege #FreePalestine

Was Boylston Place crowded? Yeah, sure, but it’s crowded all the time. I was in and out multiple times during the encampment and had zero issue getting to where I needed to go. They were not impeding foot traffic in the alley. I work there. I could see and hear it.

I will never be able walk past the entrance to the 2b alley again without hearing the students’ screams as police took them into custody. In the four years I spent as a journalism major at Emerson covering campus news, never did I witness violence unfold like last night. Grown men in riot gear armed with batons wrestling college kids to the ground by the dozens. The student paper @BeaconUpdate is already reporting student injuries, including severe head trauma.

an Emerson College student sent me this video of city crews cleaning blood from the alleyway where 108 students were arrested last night during an encampment sweep. I'm at Boston municipal court today where eight of those arrested have been given summons for arraignments in May.

Police in 2B alley and along Boylston St. Police in the alley were searching backpacks while those along Boylston were stationed all throughout the street escorting students into buildings. Dozens of police were along Tremont St.
