Today in 1968, XXXI Kumaon was raised, comprising of mixed troops from various hilly regions.

31 Kumaon later became 17 Kumaon, a pure Kumaoni Unit.

The Balidan badge is earned by shedding blood and sweat. Many covet it. Only a very few are privileged to wear it. Even in the army, the wearer is looked upon with awe and admiration because he has proven beyond all doubt that he is truly worthy of wearing this great badge of honour.

This badge is meant to be worn by India’s finest warriors - the Para SF. It’s not meant to be printed on a t-shirt and sold on an e-commerce website.
