Remarkable protest scene in Squirrel Hill. Demonstrators are neither yelling nor chanting. They don’t seem angry. Old and young, they are walking peacefully, singing softly and letting their very presence (and placards) deliver their message.
We must remember ALL victims of white supremacist violence.
Vickie Lee Jones. Maurice E. Stallard. They were targeted because they were Black.
We honor them. We grieve them. May their memories be for a blessing.
Spent the week with a crew of multiracial Jewish visionaries & leaders at the incredible (& historic) @HighlanderCtr for the national launch of #TzedekLab, a network of Jewish organizers, educators and spiritual leaders fighting racism and antisemitism
A reminder that Confederate statues were erected largely to intimidate black communities & to rewrite the history of ppl who fought a treasonous war to maintain & expand the institution of slavery.
This isn’t hard. No Confederates should be lifted up on public pedestals. Period.
We as a community back up our values with actions. Thank you to the more than 120 people who joined us at #fromthebordertoboston last night to take action in support of immigrants.
