@thekenndubisi I’ve realised that a skills gap can be a major barrier. Something as simple as having a UK driver’s licence can qualify you for so many solid roles. It really shows how important it is to understand the skills you need to survive in every environment.
In 2017, as a young boy with a deep love for cinematography and video editing, I walked into Channels TV hoping to get a job. I was full of dreams and confidence, but I didn’t pass the interview.
At the time, the only software I knew was Premiere Pro. That experience humbled me. Instead of giving up, I went back to learn more, including After Effects, determined to grow and become better.
My original plan was simple: improve my skills and come back one day. But life had a different plan. My journey slowly shifted from trying to work for media platforms to building my own voice and creating my own content.
Today, I am invited to speak on important issues affecting our country. Looking back, I realize that what felt like rejection was actually redirection.
I am grateful for the growth, the lessons, and every step of the journey. But above all, I am grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to use my craft as a tool to serve humanity.
Sometimes the doors that close are the very ones that push you toward your true purpose.
