NASA helped make America the superpower it is. Without operation paperclip we would NOT of even been a contender for the space race or had missiles. Musk for instance put up substandard internet using an armada of orbiting spacecraft that if they don't do a course correction every 2-3 minutes they all hit each other and create the largest disaster ever to hit low orbit. NASA didn't risk us like the private companies are willing too. It's a matter of time before Elon gets someone in space killed. Slightly related, I used to do astrophotography for 20+ years but that came to an end when cubesats started destroying the night sky for my long time exposures of space.
