@eliza_stern Interesting you saw the use of VR in a public setting like that! Seems like putting themselves in a vulnerable situation without the ability to be in tune with the real world setting around them. Or maybe I'm being too pessimistic? #EDU6323
@KatieMu76677376@nms_elearning Great point about common language across industries! This would need to be established especially when it comes to recruiting and hiring in order to understand one's credentials. #EDU6323
@neuAnnaK I don't get motion sickness with VR, but seeing Kelly's video and the clip showing all the content overlay in the mixed realty seemed like it would give me a headache! #EDU6323
@neuAnnaK Yes! Interesting to see how AR/VR can be used as an empathy tool and loved how she mentions you can understand the story beneath the images. #EDU6323
@CaitlinGoldblum @Mlevesque_45 So true! Not only exploring different geographies, but also being able to immerse in the language and culture associated. #EDU6323
I was relieved to see eLearning Industry's article highlighting setting objectives first then determining whether VR/AR would be a good fit. However I can see organizations wanting to implement these functions if they have already invested $$ regardless of objectives. #EDU6323
Reading the uses of VR/AR technologies for learning, this could be applicable to Miller's noted principle of transferring knowledge in which using school-acquired knowledge in real-world situations. #EDU6323
@neuAnnaK @eliza_stern@LouriNieman Thanks for sharing all your experiences with polls and surveys. This is an area we are hoping to incorporate more heavily in the next quarter and you've all given me some good food for thought. #EDU6323
@mandiferlyne @CaitlinGoldblum @EgleSlezas That's an interesting discovery! Do you think they may be more intrinsically motivated - their own personal growth vs. extrinsically motivated - motivated by that perm position? #EDU6323
@stephanie_frad Great call out here! This could be applied to adult learners as well, especially those who are newer to an organization and hesitant to contribute as they get acclimated to the culture. #EDU6323
@tcaron12 I have found myself recently sitting in on a remote training or watching eLearnings and instead of paying attention to the content; I'm analyzing their use of the technology and Mayer's multimedia principles - gah! #EDU6323
@neuAnnaK Another great idea! We currently have a check-in process with our new hires but it's in a format of email. I think an anonymous digital polling would produce more accurate and honest results. #EDU6323
In addition polling could be viewed both as an intrinsic or extrinsic motivator. Intrinsic for those who have a genuine interest in the subject and extrinsic for those who are motivated by getting a good grade in the course. #EDU6323
@nms_elearning@LouriNieman I think you just perfectly defined the difference between screencasting and screen sharing! What's funning is before this week, I never used the term "sceencast" and instead used screen recording. Although I think those might be synonyms https://t.co/WuzBFfZiIe #EDU6323
@KElena2021 Absolutely! The learning video is only truly "successful" if the learner benefited from the video and that can only happen if we know who the audience is and what they might be experiencing. #EDU6323
@CaitlinGoldblum I thought the note regarding the studentsβ feedback regarding his simpler, personal videos were more effective than his elaborate videos was very poignant. Even simply calling out their name made a major impact. #EDU6323
