Father to twins, former public servant; finds life strange & confusing, albeit often beautiful. Aspiring polymath - only lacks some actual expertise in things.
@MaxJLHardy An issue of prison provision, paucity of imagination/ambition in how we rehabilitate offenders, not a lay bench problem.
Imagine, instead, every prisoner is met on entry & assessed for MH, health, work, housing needs, with intervention/assistance next day working toward release.
Dear @GaryLineker
You were one of the first people to donate towards my fundraising for neurorehab, so In light of the shit show that’s unfolding right now, I thought I’d pick this moment to share that because of you and so many other incredible people here, I took my first steps in 8 years this week.
Thank you… forever x

@JohnJCrace I am on the @Conservatives mailing list by virtue of accidentally ticking/not ticking a box in contacting my MP, @AlexChalkChelt .
Their email headers make me want to vomit, let alone the contents.
I want to unsubscribe, but it feels such a small gesture in the face of hate. 🤦🏼♂️
I’m reminded of the @JohnFinnemore sketch where a newsreader states the ‘biggest enemy of the #BBC, in the official opinion of the BBC, is the BBC’
I broke my #Twitterboycott for this madness!

@BBCSport - just in case anyone is counting, please add my name to the list of people who won’t be watching #MoTD again until @GaryLineker is back.
What he said was reasonable in tone & context; the Conservatives are on the wrong side of this argument.

@DailyGamma@VitalikButerin@elonmusk@GiveDirectly The evidence seems to be against you here. I'm not surprised to find that people invest in improving their lives, as you or I would.
Remember, these are some of *the poorest* people in the world. They aren't lacking for talent, just opportunity.

And @elonmusk, if you read this, I know that there are many Billionaires not pulling their weight. How about offering to match what they give?
Why @GiveDirectly? Because we can all disagree on what's good and bad for people. Giving them money lets them decide for themselves.
And it's not just @elonmusk, it's every billionaire and Government who could do this.
BUT Elon likes polls and has expressed interest in philanthropy before. @GiveDirectly is:
- effective (helping poor people is much cheaper)
- transparent (just give them money)
- scalable
Of all the shit in Westminster that needs fixing, the House of Lords is right at the bottom of the list. It's the one place in which the government is defeated. And, just as importantly, the one place the government is prepared to admit where it is wrong.
