@JohnCornyn thought Texans want to take the @smithsonian's space shuttle from DC to Texas, but it turns out they wanted to take *him* from DC to Texas instead
Sen. Cornyn has been the #1 proponent of taking Discovery from the @smithsonian for the last year. Hopefully this allows NASA to send Artemis II, and not the shuttle, to Houston later this year without any further interference.
Breaking: Ken Paxton wins the Republican U.S. Senate primary in Texas, ousting longtime incumbent John Cornyn.
He will face Democratic nominee James Talarico in November.

Interesting day for these to arrive - we have more supporters in Texas than almost any other state, and we're grateful for them! These are going to elected officials in Houston, Austin, and DC to prove that no one in Texas or elsewhere wants to take Discovery from @airandspace
And in case anyone was wondering, the SCA/747 was subsequently disassembled into 7 pieces & is coincidentally on display at @SpaceCenterHou. As cool as this was, the SCAs and shuttles are firmly earthbound, and Discovery is staying at Udvar-Hazy.
On this day in 2012, Space Shuttle Discovery, atop the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA), flew over Washington, DC, and landed at Dulles Airport—one step closer to arriving at its new home at our Udvar-Hazy Center.
Welcome home Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy! 🫶
The Artemis II astronauts have splashed down at 8:07pm ET (0007 UTC April 11), bringing their historic 10-day mission around the Moon to an end.
"Welcome to my old neighborhood." Our @NASAArtemis II astronauts woke up on the sixth day of their mission to a special message recorded in 2025 by astronaut Jim Lovell, the pilot of Apollo 8.
"In other words, NASA has committed to making any move utterly and completely impossible"
Thanks for the coverage @TheNatlInterest@PeterSuciu!

Come and Take It? Yes, we will. But for shenanigans by Obama administration, it would already be there. Glad that the Space Shuttle Discovery is finally coming home to Houston.
@SpaceCenterHou is the right place for this shuttle & I am proud to have led the charge to help bring the Discovery to its rightful home in Space City.
Also a big win for transparency - @JohnCornyn & the few other proponents have consistently and repeatedly failed to offer any details on how they would move the shuttle.
Very excited to see the NASA RFP re both Discovery & Artemis. RFP asks for a plan to move Discovery 40 miles to @MCB_Quantico with no dissasembly allowed. This is an impossible task. Alternative is sending an Artemis capsule to @SpaceCenterHou - which is what will happen.
