The Keep Streets Live Campaign supports the fair, open and democratic use of shared public spaces for informal offerings of art and music. #KeepStreetsLive
Loud music blaring from the Birmingham Christmas Market in an area where busking is banned.
This was never about noise nuisance. It was about purging the streets of spontaneity, and ensuring @BhamCityCouncil can profit from any music being played #buskingban#birmingham
@BhamCityCouncil
“Everything happens here and all at once,
commuters and buskers, thronging the squares, the hubbub of commerce and labour”
St Martins Sq in Brum.
The council need to get out the chisel given they’ve banned busking.

Thank you to @sarahjradio for having me on her show today.
It's unfortunately a rarity in these sort of media appearances to be given the time to speak in detail, but that's exactly what I was allowed to do this morning.
@BhamCityCouncil are still refusing to speak with us
This comes into play on Friday.
No engagement with the busking community, and the Councillor pushing it misled the council over its scope, which has been confirmed by one of their colleagues.
I have registered an official complaint for a breach of the Nolan principles
@DavidFisherFolk@TennantJamie The council’s idea of engagement is to tell us what they propose then construct questions around their proposals then tell us how it will be.
We’ve suggested compromises over the years on the previous #PSPO#BuskingBan and this one - all ignored.
#Birmingham#CityThatBansCulture
I'm concerned that @tennantjamie, who spoke yesterday in favour of the PSPO in Birmingham, doesn't understand its scope. He claims that it only targets 'excessive noise' (from 33m). This is untrue, and I urge Jamie to read the proposals carefully 1/

Security guard: You need to leave
Me: I'm not breaking any laws by busking here.
Security guard: OK, so which law aren't you breaking?
Me:.... All of them?
A reminder that it is not illegal to busk on private property such as a shopping centre, or outside a supermarket!
@Redrichmond2@ChurchfieldJE This system would not work for public highways. It's hugely restrictive. Busking would die overnight if something this were introduced on a wide scale
A noticeably chillier busk for many in Britain today.
Buskers, how are we holding up?
And non-buskers, please be kind and generous to your shivering local busker!
This is concerning. The current process to introduce a PSPO involves a public consultation and consulting interested groups - and so it should.
Rogue PSPOs criminalise the vulnerable and at KSL we will continue to lobby politicians for fair reform

Great sound and battling valiantly here against Camden's amp ban. When you can project like @LaurieWright4, you often don't need one! Good hats, Laurie!

@GMB@ryanmarkparsons Ryan-Mark Parsons is very misinformed... busking is not begging, as proven in Gray v Chief of Manchester Police 1982.
And yes, it is bad etiquette to film a busker and not drop money in their case!
Goodness me, what a joyless rant.
Keep music live!

Rather sad to hear an announcement on a @TfL train instructing passengers not to support buskers.
They can create their restrictive, closed-shop busking 'schemes' all like - but they are no friend of buskers
