On this solemn anniversary, we honor the NYPD members who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
We vow to never forget their legacy of service and heroism.

We are urging New Yorkers to always CLOSE THE DOOR behind you in a fire. A closed door can slow the spread of deadly smoke, heat and flames.
It's a simple action that can make a life-saving difference. CLOSE THE DOOR!
Today, we added 103 more names to the NYPD’s Hall of Heroes — forever etching their legacies into the history of this department.
When a name is placed here, it joins a line of NYPD members who made the decision to serve this city knowing what that choice could cost them.
These walls signify what that sacrifice has meant across nearly two centuries. Long after assignments change and tours end, these names will stay here as a reminder of what it means to answer this noble calling.
May the memories of these 103 fallen heroes, and of everyone we’ve lost over the years, forever be a blessing.

“Cuba has a remarkable public-health system, lowest infant mortality, maternal mortality, sort of the opposite of what the United States has.” — Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), Tuesday
Too often there are no consequences in the criminal justice system for this type of outrageous behavior.
Clearly, it’s time for that to change.
My hope and expectation is that Asil Assaidi will be held fully accountable for his actions.
⚠️ SUSPECT ARRESTED - ARREST MADE IN QUEENS FATAL FIRE: Following an extensive investigation, 38-year-old Roman Amatitla, of Queens, was arrested on April 8 in connection with the deadly 4-alarm fire which occurred on March 16 in Queens. Four people were killed in the fire at 132-05 Avery Avenue.
Fire marshals with the Department's Bureau of Fire Investigation assisted partner law enforcement agencies in the investigation, helping lead to the arrest of Amatitla.
Police Officer Alain Schaberger dedicated his life to protecting others — first as a member of the U.S. Navy and then when he joined the NYPD in 2001. He chose to serve this city at a time when the evolving risks of policing had become painfully clear, but he still did this work with dedication and a quiet professionalism.
15 years ago, Officer Schaberger was killed in the line of duty while trying to keep someone else safe. That is the danger that the members of the NYPD face when they put on their uniform and respond to a call for help.
May his memory continue to be a blessing.
Car stop leads to firearm arrest.
Our @NYPD75Pct officers pulled over a vehicle for violations and soon discovered a firearm, leading to an arrest.
That's one less gun on the streets of East New York.
