This book is becoming contagious in our district. It is transforming our classrooms and culture to be more thinking based. Students and teachers lifting their crafts through thinking! @pgliljedahl
Just submitted my final paper as a UCAPP student! Thank you @UConnNeag for 2 years of incredible professional learning. Thank you @larrydlewis2424@FredEnde@BernsteinCT for your collective wisdom, thought-provoking content, & embedded humor to close out my journey! #EDLR5402 💜
“Teams that lack open conflict are dying entities” ~ Harvey & Drolet This makes me think about how team culture is so important if we want to challenge the status quo. #EDLR5402
“The mind’s road to learning is more about roads than minds.” - McDermott et al. Providing equitable access and opportunity for learning should always be at the forefront of our minds. #edlr5402
@MmeScarbrough@FredEnde My dream! I haven’t experienced teaching in another country. But I find myself always reading about teaching & learning in other countries. I’m fascinated by cultural differences. My own practice has been shaped by this research. Someday I’d love make it to Finland & Japan!
@LaurenPercy3 I ❤️ that 2nd question, as well. If we don’t seek feedback & look for evidence of effectiveness, what’s the point of PDL?! This reminds me of the importance of coherence in the systems of schools. How is PDL embedded throughout the systems & not just an isolated entity? #EDLR5402
@JessieR2415@BardosTiffany My UCAPP coach, Joanne, has always said we are not looking for “buy-in” from teachers. We are looking for teachers to “own it.” We want teachers to have collective responsibility and ownership to school initiatives. #EDLR5402
“We need to respect teachers as the professionals they are and use their input, observations and needs assessments to inform our work as leaders…” Wise words from @LewistoryTeach#EDLR5402
@AronsKristine@FredEnde I loved this, too, Kristine! This has been a huge part of my leadership growth over the past two years...and I will continue to seek improvement in this area as authentic listening is critically important to effective leadership!
@AronsKristine Exactly…so how can we shape a professional learning culture so that PLCs and collaborative time actually help relieve the stress and not just “another thing to do” on a teacher’s to-do list? #EDLR5402
I just saw a post that claimed teachers are among the most stressed population and asked for teacher input. As I looked at the comments, I saw, “less PDs and PLCs.” How can we, as aspiring school leaders, create a culture where teachers see PDL as a remedy for stress? #EDLR5402
I saw this quote today, "The more sand that has escaped from the hourglass of our life, the clearer we should see through it." - Jean Paul Sartre...
I then thought, "Why are school leaders still planning one-and-done PDL when we know it does not have lasting impacts?" #EDLR5402
