"My father was a slave, and my people died to build this country, and I am going to stay here, and have a part of it just like you. And no Fascist-minded people will drive me from it. Is that clear?" —Paul Robeson
As adults, we need to stop 'stealing the struggle' from our kids/players. When we 'steal the struggle', we steal their opportunity for growth & learning.
We need to prepare them for the path (teach resilience and confidence), but we can't prepare the path for them.
ALL PURPOSE: Vaughn brings new culture to KF football
“My coaches were a big influence on my life growing up, so I just want to give back. I’m here to serve these young men and women, to help them become great members of society."

This is Corion Evans.
While he was driving in Mississippi, he saw a car swerve and crash into a river. Without hesitating, he ran out, jumped into the water, and rescued three girls inside.
He was 16 at the time.
The driver of the vehicle stated she was following her GPS and did not realize she was going into the water.
Corion Evans said he immediately ran over, took off his shoes and shirt and went into the water when he saw the car sinking and heard the three occupants shouting for help.
When Police Officer Gary Mercer responded to the scene, he attempted to bring one person to shore who began panicking and caused him to struggle under water.
Evans helped rescue him, too.
Officials presented Evans with a certificate of commendation for his heroism in rescuing the four people. They also recognized Mercer for his "bravery in the rescue."
“It's not often enough that you see people put others above themselves."
We're very proud: UNT honors trailblazers Abner Haynes and Leon King, who became the first Black athletes to play major college football in Texas in 1956 when they joined the Mean Green. #WeAreNorthTexas#GoMeanGreen#CollegeFootball

Now, why would this girl think this is okay? We know why. And now legislators are passing laws to prevent children from even learning the danger of this behavior, historically & currently. We must ensure that the school experience encompasses true history + character education.
My father wrote this about “white backlash” 54 yrs ago.
Still powerful, still relevant.
Still, there are White people who think Black liberation = loss of freedom for them.
Notably, for hundreds of years, oppressing Black people has = economic prosperity for America.
Sick.
Last report from Big Ash @Asher_Alb89! Kelvin Smith was a pro far before I showed up at UNT. He set the standard in the #ChainGang⛓ room! And now he is a coach! Not surprising! Hope to get him added to our TE room wall! #GMG@CoachKSmith__
