We should also be careful not to equate fellowship training with commitment to cancer care.
Some of the highest-enrolling investigators in bladder cancer clinical trials are not fellowship-trained urologic oncologists. But they have built outstanding practices, contribute to research, and expand patient access to novel therapies @urologyUS@BladderCancerUS@MaxKates
Residents see that there are multiple ways to have an impact in oncology
Ben, why would anyone spend 2-3 years w/ the financial opportunity cost associated to get a certificate that confers no professional or financial benefit compared to the one year endurology fellowship? From what I see, academics & private practice treat them the same
Please join us in congratulating our 2 rising Chief residents on their fellowship match:
David Fu - MIS/Robotic Urology - Northwestern
Carlos Perez - SUO - @MoffittGUOnc

So happy to see @KennethCintron9 return to @PonceHealthSU as a Urology resident to present a case at our PHSU-MCC U54 tumor board - it’s been several years since his U54 REC summer rotation as a medical student and we are proud of his achievements!

6) Healthcare is getting harder for all of us. But we love our work & we deeply care about you, our patients. Those of us who teach the next generation of physicians in academic medicine, are humbled & proud to do so. Take a second to welcome our newest colleagues!

4) Many residents sacrifice time with family, friends, and even delay major life events like marrying or starting a family, to fully dedicate their time to the art of medicine. So try to be patient and appreciate that level of dedication.

Dear Incoming PGY-1,

Valor $1000 USD
You are NOT “annoying” program coordinators by reaching out to them regarding rotations/opportunities etc. It is NOT too early. You should NOT wait until the week before VSAS/VSLO opens to contact them (their inboxes will be flooded).
Biggest regret my first 2 years of med school - always being in a hurry. Hurry to finish Anki reviews, hurry to sleep, hurry to finish workouts, social events, anything. It’s a marathon not a sprint and everything I enjoyed slowly felt like a chore. Slow down and look around 🌞
