@RoyPentland@ryankatzrosene Lol keep posting slop you screenshot instead of giving even a second of your precious attention to the guy actually doing the research (Ryan)
@RoyPentland@ryankatzrosene OP posted about area, Ryan corrected OP showing ice volume has drastically decreased, and you regurgitate OP to counter Ryan. Brilliant.
@elephant_ben I can't recall how those criteria are used, what do researchers using these typically use to determine the cut point? What is the as-if random assignment there?
@amberwb@alethepais@arindube I am correct actually. A natural experiment is when something outside our control randomly assigns to treatment. It is seen as less credible to the degree we don’t have confidence in the randomization
@amberwb@alethepais@arindube You’re right, when “natural” forces do the random assignment to treatment. But there’s nothing natural about which states will adopt an ostensibly ideological policy
If you care about your health, wellness, and fertility, you need to floss
Apparently this is not common knowledge, so here’s a dump on why you NEED to floss daily. Honestly, I’d say it’s even more important than brushing.
Gum disease is a chronic low-grade infection that your whole body is fighting. If you doctor asks “Are you flossing?” you have some visible evidence of gum disease. He’s not just making small talk.
This comes in stages. Gingivitis is the most common, and a majority of adults who don’t floss have it. This means your gums are inflamed (that’s why they bleed when the dentist pokes them)
Periodontitis is more serious: this means your gum disease is destroying the bone and connective tissue supporting your teeth. If you’ve ever needed antibiotics for this, pleaseeee consider it a come to Jesus moment.
The whole issue with inflamed gums is that it’s letting bacteria into your bloodstream that doesn’t belong there
This bacteria works its way throughout your body, and has been linked to:
-Cardiovascular disease
-Strokes
-Insulin resistance, weight gain, and diabetes
-Cognitive decline
-Alzheimer’s disease
-Adverse pregnancy outcomes (periodontitis specifically has been shown to increase risk for preterm birth, low birth weight, preeclampsia, impaired placental function, and miscarriage!)
Finally, the rest of us have to look at you and smell you. And yes, we can tell!
