In Denmark corporation tax is 22 per cent - already three points lower than Britain’s 25 per cent rate - and set to fall to 19 per cent over (@thetimes). Lower taxes are possible - we just need politicians courageous enough to take control of public finances
Britain doesn’t need the state to take shares in business, it needs to let those businesses actually bloody operate - eg building factories, labs, housing, not having crippling energy bills, not seeing workers and profits taxed into oblivion. (Not seeing profit as a bad thing!)
They would look at the country today and you in particular and say:
"What on earth did we sacrifice our lives for?"
"Why are our children and grandchildren 2nd class citizens in their own country?"
They laid down their lives so politicians like you can give it all away to people that have never contributed a penny to this country.
You owe them an even bigger debt than the rest of us.
@10DowningStreet And yet ask those who are still alive from the conflict they hate this government and don't understand what you're doing to the uk. Quote 'I don't know what I fought for anymore' how about you invite them into no 10 to hear loud and clear how much they despise you starmer
@afneil@BBCNewsnight Totally agree. It's especially critical that the roles like chancellor of exchequer has very deep and strong fiscal, economic and business knowledge and experience. We need to auto ban any mp from taking those sort of roles due to the deep harm they can do not understanding
@SkyNews She's clueless.. this isn't a new thing it's not been hidden. The fact that a sitting baroness has no idea how the crown and parliament work speaks volumes. We need a real purge of stupid mps and peers who don't know how country works. Just kick them out/Lock in the tower
The new Danish government is cutting the corporation tax rate from 22% to 19% over three years, and eliminating income tax bands for the highest earners.
“It is crucial that Denmark remains competitive,” Prime Minister Frederiksen said.
It's sad that the British government does not have a similar attitude.
@afneil Cool you are the only unbiased political commentator with any credibility. The ability to put out reasoned sensible discussion with a sense of humour. Will be listening as you just say it as it is!
Total welfare payments are now projected to rise to £389 billion by the end of the parliament. I don’t believe hardworking taxpayers should carry the financial burden for people who are capable of working but simply choose not to. Basic fairness
