@whitleybirks I've heard for some plants you can "paint" herbicide onto them? No idea if it works for trees, though, and you usually need to be very careful while handling the herbicide.

Labs associated with educational institutions seem to be exempt from the high prices of pure ethanol, whereas the small biotech startup I worked for had to pay out the nose for it (so reserved that for experiments and used the laced stuff for cleaning)

@NeolithicSheep To clarify, this was a "please do this so you delay the problems and we have more time to treat you" sort of deal, not an actual remedy for methanol poisoning.

@NeolithicSheep (This apparently works because your body metabolizes both in the same way, but metabolizing methanol generates a toxic end product. So drinking a lot of ethanol competes for the enzyme's "attention" resulting in less toxin being generated!)

@ivancedric_a I always called my cousins "brother" or "sister" (with the requisite term depending on older or younger), including my second cousin. It didn't even occur to me for a while that his dad (who I called "maternal uncle") wasn't one of my mom's siblings!
