Our follow-up study on IgG4 in blood and saliva after 4 x COVID-19 mRNA vaccines is out on eBioMedicine 🧪
1)🧵So how does IgG4 influence responses to Omicron (XBB.1.5 and JN.1) and Sarbecoviruses (from bats, pangolins)? What epitopes are being targeted?

Our latest preprint is out, where we investigated a profound SARS-CoV-2 epidemiological anomaly: BA.3.2.2 is selectively infecting children. Here, we show that the lack of ancestral-strain immune imprinting is promoting BA.3.2.2 pediatric infections.

Flu vaccination does more than protect against viruses circulating that year.
Our study published in #ScienceTranslationalMedicine showed 1994 vaccine generated broad immune responses against future H1N1 & FluB strains, but not H3N2, spanning 30 years. https://t.co/W2E36RT5P3
BREAKING🔔 Our new study is out at @biorxivpreprint. We established a novel animal model for SARS-CoV-2 infection using horseshoe bats, a natural reservoir of SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses in nature. Please repost🦇

After 20 years, 58 generations and more than 30,000 cloning attempts, a team of researchers has hit the limit on the number of times a single mouse can be serially re-cloned

Here is our updated database of grants for early careers researchers in all fields.
It goes way beyond traditional NIH and NSF funding opportunities. We list 428 types of grants.

Congrats to my friend Alex German for making headlines with his recent work to show restoration of electrophysiology after vitrifying entire mouse brains to -150c and then rewarming them

We are excited to present our new study @Nature, led by @DrDrCox and performed in collaboration with the lab of @MaayanLevyPhD, in which we explore the impact of gut-brain axis aging on cognitive decline.

By isolating immune cells from pediatricians, researchers employ rational design to engineer cocktails of monoclonal antibodies that neutralize #RSV and #metapneumovirus in rodents without generating resistance. @ScienceTM https://t.co/QgQ1N9N6X0
1) We have a new preprint paper out about population immunity to H5N1 and H5N5. Results are in line with what others have seen but there are two new findings. https://t.co/wVSfSWdUaG
Pre-existing neutralizing antibodies against cattle-transmitted H5N1 influenza are detectable even in unexposed individuals, highlighting partial pre-existing immunity. A new paper in cooperation with my team. It was a great opportunity to collaborate

Ever wondered why gamma delta T cells are required for immunity to liver-stage malaria?
Spoiler - they make IL-4!

BREAKING🔔 The 55th paper from G2P-Japan🇯🇵 is out at Lancet Infectious Diseases @TheLancetInfDis We assessed the humoral immunity induced by LP.8.1 mRNA vaccine and recombinant protein vaccine against a variety of SARS-CoV-2 variants. Please repost🔥 1/

@VignuzziLab@idlabs_astar Open to collaborate if there is joint interest in this aspect. I'm heading down to Singapore for APVIC later in May. So happy to discuss more then 😊
@VignuzziLab@idlabs_astar I'm curious if there are differences in IgG subclasses (eg IgG1 vs IgG4) too across ethnicity in Singapore after mRNA vaccines/boosters?
Our group has been studying IgG subclasses after repeated mRNA vaccines/boosters in Australia, but our cohorts here are largely Caucasian

24) 🧵In all, mRNA boosters still provided an overall improvement in both non-neutralising and neutralising responses against Omicron variants in our cohorts.
However, individuals who class-switch from IgG1 >> IgG4 may not be receiving the best possible gains from their booster.
