Free agent Nickeil Alexander-Walker has agreed to a four-year, $62 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, plus a player option and trade kicker, sources tell ESPN. CAA Co-Heads of Basketball Aaron Mintz/Austin Brown and Steven Heumann reached the contract with the Hawks tonight.
Free agent center Luka Garza has agreed to a two-year, $5.5 million fully guaranteed deal with the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN. The Celtics negotiated the new deal with Garza's representatives Mark Bartelstein and Kieran Piller of @PrioritySports tonight.
@HowlsAndGrowls_ With Randle back and his playmaking I think starting Divincenzo at PG will suffice.
Then let Conley be the primary back up with Dillingham as a regular third string option for when Conley needs some load management.
I think it’s still early to for Dilly to start on a WCF team
@DaneMooreNBA Learned something new…did not realize the power of a minimum deal.
Seems like a Rocco Zikarsky investment.
Wolves probably have room for another minimum deal if this is the case?
@ChristopherHine Initial thought is to let Garza go and sign a vet to shore up the wolves frontcourt depth but after seeing whats available in the wolves price range Id lean towards signing garza back too
@HoodieNaz_ I think the wolves should be targeting a big with that money.
I think Donte, Conley and Dillingham got it covered at PG.
But there is no backup plan if one of Gobert, Randle or Naz get hurt. That’s where I’d spend first.
The Julius Randle extension adds a lot of value to the Wolves ultimate return in the KAT trade.
KAT has 3yr/$171M left on his deal.
Randle just signed for 3yr/$100M.
Say what you will about talent or fit but thats about $24M savings per year.
So is Donte Divincenzo the starting PG next season?
Barring any major moves, I’d think so. Conley is too old, Dillingham is too young, but Divincenzo is in his prime.
He started 6 games before his toe injury and averaged 17.5p-5.3r-4.7a shooting 42% from deep.
@TWolvesLead@MikeAScotto@ChristopherHine Minott seems to have too small of a leash from Finch that its not going anywhere.
And I love Garza but when he’s not hitting shots it’s tough to play him very long.
I hope they get a real shot elsewhere to showcase their game better.
@KyleTheige I don’t love just running it back but I’d hate even more to make moves that cost the team assets this early in Ants career.
I think one benefit of having Gobert is you can lean into youth and still have a high floor. And I think thats what they should do. Start Naz. Play Dilly.
@WolvesGotNext I feel like its good value and length of contract. Wolves depth for bigs drastically falls if he walks. I think it’s a very tradable contract too in the future.
Stinks for Naz, but there will still be 32 minutes available a night for Gobert, Randle, and Naz.
Solid move.
