@philatrail And 2:
TPWS is universal but is only fitted at terminals, most junctions and severe speed restrictions (eg Morpeth curve on the ECML). It’s is not fitted to plain line signals
@philatrail Some facts on safety systems to help folk on this thread:
1. AWS: will / should apply a train’s brakes automatically after an activation unless the driver has acknowledged/ cancelled its activation. It’s not sophisticated so if cancelled and the driver takes no action, nothing
Caring isn’t just my family's story, it is the story of millions, caring for each other, dealing with tough times, and keeping going with love.
Sharing our story hasn't been easy, but it's important. It's time to bring carers' experiences into the light.
@RAIL While Andrew Haines said today: “but I repeat again today what I have said previously – GBR must not and can never be Network Rail 2.0. This is a never-to-be-missed opportunity to build something new and better.” So not NR taking over at all, but creating a new org with pax at ❤️
@Probabl75736783@sonic_phil@SimonCalder Hold on,reforms see maintenance shrink by 1,900. NR got over 3,000 expressions of interest from mntce colleagues since the VS scheme opened. Job guarantee to 2025. Everyone that wants a job will have one. Over 9% on the table and those under £35k, it’s double digits. Fact
@Delboy1271945@ManAtTheStation@tomibbotson24@RMTunion The idea is to raise living standards with a higher base salary, fill vacancy gaps and reduce reliance on O/T. Managing over 60 different sets of T&Cs inherited whenmaintenance came in-house in ‘04 is unsustainable. The Carillion contract is a decent middle of the road compromise
@Delboy1271945@ManAtTheStation@tomibbotson24@RMTunion Not right. Not touching T&Cs. It’s 4+4 as of updated July offer (was 4+2+2) in June). Current contracted nights and weekends only - no change to wha/ already written in. Only new starters move to ‘the Carillion’ contract with lower o/t rates but higher base and pensionable pay
@ManAtTheStation@tomibbotson24@RMTunion Its actually 4% + 4% ('22 & '23), 75% off rail travel for employee&family, job guarantee to Jan '25 and extra 1% lump sum for lower paid
@rorybremner Afraid most of this if wrong. Pay award in 2019 and 2020. And an award for 2022 and 2023 on the table. No compulsory redundancies guarantee on the table to 2025! Not touching T&Cs and no pay or overtime cuts being forced on anyone. Weekend and night working staying as contracted
@PhilinGibraltar@DavidMoggy Not a Network Rail strike this Saturday, it's the train drivers - ASLEF -- led by Mick Wheelan. Mick Lynch is RMT and that's the 18th and 20th August - so next Saturday too :0(
@AvantiWestCoast morning Avanti, what are the current planned opening times for the First Class lounge at Birmingham NS? The opening times on the door are pre-covid times and every morning I’ve been here it’s been closed. No info on your website?
@BrnFinney@GMB@adilray Change in regulatory settlement - it's a paper profit. NR is nationalised, all profits (paper or not) are reinvested into the railway and are accounted for in the regulatory settlement meaning there isn't a 'rainy day' piggy bank stuffed full of money!
