Left my job of ~13 years at Apple yesterday to take a step into the unknown.
I'll Backpack 1,000 miles in 2026 including 2 thru-hikes (BMT, JMT), hoping the trail unlocks what's next for me in life.
Thanks to @Camp4 for the push.
Get busy living or get busy dying..
I listened to this podcast on a hike yesterday.
It perfectly summarizes my current thoughts on X and the algorithm.
In time of chaos, it’s more important than ever to protect your brain and get your own house in order.
I highly recommend people invest ~20 min to listen to this episode.
This 55 second clip might make you 55% happier.
We live in a world gone crazy. When you become disillusioned…
Retreat to the things that matter.
For me, that’s:
Family
Nature
Rock climbing
Writing
Faith
Helping others
The rest is noise.
1. Get clear on what matters to you.
2. Build your life around that stuff.
3. Ignore the noise.

@Jack_Polivka Excellent article, Jack!
You’re doing what many people dream of but are scared to actually do.
You’re following the right path and where you’re meant to be will unfold with time!
@DerrickEmpowers Congrats Derrick!
This is my identical experience. I decided to take a “break” from booze 3 years ago on the 4th of July.
Never looked back and never will.
It’s a nasty crutch, good on you for taking serious action!
This hit home.
I doubled down on this concept in March of 2020 when COVID hit.
At first I was stressed by what was happening, but then realized I couldn't control anything.
Instead I avoided the news, maximized family time, prioritized my health, and invested as much money as possible.
This is my default to this day.
The world keeps getting crazier, but we can all come back to this.
Want to change the world?
Start at home.
Too many people put their energy into far-off problems that they don’t understand and can’t impact.
Meanwhile, their home life is a hot mess.
⭕️ Think of it as concentric circles—start with the person in the mirror and work outward:

@Camp4 It feels like things are moving quicker at 37, the idea that it goes exponential at 45 is a scary thought!
Luckily I am doing my best to master all of the habits you mentioned.
Get busy living or get busy dying!
@RoaringHammy This is the default answer you’ll get from most people.
No logic, just $10m.
I think it’s a defense mechanism. They haven’t saved, so they believe it requires some massive unachievable number.
Makes them feel less responsible for the situation.
