Mamdani announces city-run groceries will set prices *30%* below retail.

Typical grocery margins are 2%.
Meaning:

First, the city will lose ungodly amounts of money -- at least 28 cents on the dollar.

Second, below-cost stores will steal enough market share that real groceries abandon the city.

Third, taxpayers will get tired of the money hole and slash subsidies.

At which point city groceries become money holes full of rotting food, so New Yorkers will have to take 2 trains and a bus to find a real grocery store.

Socialism will work this time 🙌

No, you don't get it.

He does not have $1 trillion sitting in cash, it is 99% stock in his companies.

To make that wealth liquid would mean selling all that stock which would swiftly destroy *both* the companies (Tesla, SpaceX, others) and the wealth. If he sold it all, he'd end up with maybe $100b max, several hundred thousand people would be out of work, the companies ruined and many of their suppliers also ruined.

Okay, but now Elon has $100b in cash, and can "solve the world's problems".

$100b divided by the world's 8 billion people is $12

If you were in charge, several of the most innovative industrial companies in the world would be destroyed, hundreds of thousands out of work, and space would again close to human civilization for another generation.

But everyone on earth could have one nice meal and you could revel in your altruism.

The reason you can’t afford healthcare:

Healthcare premiums are too high.

Taxing Jeff Bezos more may be right for other reasons but it will do nothing to fix this.

Premiums are too high because insurance companies game the pricing model brought by Obamacare.

Obamacare capped gross margins at 15%. So for healthcare companies to make more money, they didn’t have to find efficiency or compete harder, they could coordinate and raise prices. And they did that. Making 15% on $10,000 with little competition is better for them than making 15% or more on $1,000.

Now Obamacare says you must spend these extra dollars on services but if you look at the growth of administrative staff and the flatlining of life expectancy, what really happened was that the extra dollars just sloshed around in the system and eventually made its way to stockholders with no measurable impact to quality - look at life expectancy vs admin staff growth in healthcare or stock price of health care stocks vs life expectancy.

So to make healthcare affordable again, change the gross margin rules and force competition between the private insurers/PBMs/providers.

Georgia law says election workers must sign off before votes get counted.

Fulton County skipped that step. Then they counted the votes anyway.

Not once. Not twice. But at 36 out of 37 early voting sites. No signatures, no verification, no proof the machines started at zero.

The kicker? Fulton County admitted it.

They literally told the state, "yeah, we didn’t follow the rules."

And Georgia’s Secretary of State? He accepted those votes without blinking!

This isn’t about Trump. It’s about the fact that Republicans screamed fraud for years and were told to sit down.

Now Fulton’s saying, "oops, we broke the law."

That’s not a conspiracy... it’s confirmation.
