Matiullah Jan and YouTuber Asad Toor invited foreign journalists in Islamabad for covering the US-Iran talks to the National Press Club where they were represented with special mementos.
Matiullah Jan and Asad Toor then proceeded to give a political speech to the foreignjournalists in which they criticised the present government and spoke about how freedom of media was under threat in Pakistan.
What they said is their opiniona and they have a right to hold it. However, what they don't have a right to do is to mislead the foreign jouralists whom they had invited as to the purpose of the invitation.
One of the foreign reporters who attended, the New York Post's Caitlin Doornbos actually tweeted to say that she did not know that her attendance at the event and pics would be used as part of an exercise to bad mouth the very government of country where they were guests.
She wrote: "Did anyone ask the foreign journalists whose photos are now associated with this how they felt about it? Personally, I feel deceived and used. I would have enjoyed learning more about the media landscape privately, but our images were blasted out in association with a political statement implying our solidarity in criticizing a foreign government in which we’re guests."
Both Matiullah Jan and Asad Toor clearly misrepresented to their foreign guests the purpose of the invitation and tried to equate the attendace of the foreign journalits as some kind of endorsement for their (Matiullah Jan's and Asad Toor's) political views.
The widespread hospitality and warmth experienced by foreign journalists in Islamabad for the talks has now been ruined by Matiullah Jan's and Asad Toor's antics and attempt to use the invitation and eventual attendance of the foreign journalists to make a political point.
That they want to make a political point is their right but to use the foreign journalists as part of that is shameful and should be condemned. No wonder the New York Post reporter also said that she felt "deceived" and that no one asked them how they felt about their pics being used.
President Trump on TruthSocial: Thank you to Pakistan and its Great Prime Minister and Field Marshall, two fantastic people!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP
UK parliament today👇
“Pakistan is playing a leading role in efforts to end the United States–Iran conflict by prioritising peace.
Today, I asked the Prime Minister how the United Kingdom is supporting the Pakistani government in its effort to secure a lasting and sustainable peace in the Middle East.” —-

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Vance walked away from the Islamabad talks after only 21 hours and declared them a failure
Here's how this compares to other similar negotiations in the region:
🇪🇬🇮🇱 The Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel took 13 days of intensive talks at the presidential retreat in 1978, preceded by 14 months of diplomatic groundwork
🇳🇴 The Oslo Accords involved 8 months of secret back-channel negotiations in Norway before any public announcement in 1993
🇮🇷 The Iran nuclear deal, the JCPOA, took 20 months of formal negotiations across multiple cities before being signed in 2015
🇺🇸🇮🇱 The Abraham Accords involved years of quiet back-channel work by the Trump administration before the signing ceremony on the White House lawn in 2020
🇱🇧 The Taif Agreement ending Lebanon's civil war took 7 years, with 2 years of serious negotiation
🇶🇦 The Doha Agreement took 8 years of back-channelling and 1 year of formal talks
🇱🇧🇮🇱 The Lebanon-Israel maritime border deal took 4 years to conclude
21 hours of talks between two countries that have been at war for six weeks, with zero trust on either side, to resolve questions about nuclear weapons, the Strait of Hormuz, reparations and regional security, is not a negotiation
It’s a first meeting
In intensive talks at highest level in 47 years, Iran engaged with U.S in good faith to end war.
But when just inches away from "Islamabad MoU", we encountered maximalism, shifting goalposts, and blockade.
Zero lessons earned
Good will begets good will.
Enmity begets enmity.
The Islamabad Talks is "not an event but a process."
The Islamabad Talks laid the foundation for a diplomatic process that, if trust and will are strengthened, can create a sustainable framework for the interests of all parties.
I would like to express my gratitude to the friendly and brotherly county of Pakistan, especially H.E. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, for their initiative of goodwill and good office for the talks.
With the tireless efforts of all sectors in Pakistan, including the government, army, police and security forces to facilitate and manage the talks, talks were held in a dignified and befitting atmosphere for the guests in a calm, orderly and secure environment with equal logistic opportunities for both sides.
The Iranian high ranking negotiating team, with dignity, self-confidence and faith in Allah Almighty and attention to the concerns of the people, pursued dignified talks for the great Iranian nation to ensure and secure the national interests and legitimate rights of the people.
Most Pakistani local journalists are not capable of handling international affairs. This is due to poor analytical capacity and no formal training. Their main topic was how PTI is defeated, how Imran Khan is irrelevant, what Imran Khan is thinking in Adiala, and how foreign policy is better now, etc. Imagine this is their mental level in such intense times and important peace negotiations. The only good news is they are still better than Indian media
The real outcome of #IslamabadTalks2026 for Pakistanis is that if they want to increase their knowledge about International Affairs they should stop following EVERY Pakistani journalist on Twitter/X and UNSUBSCRIBE their YouTube channels too.
