I therefore paid a courtesy call to Her Excellency Elsie Kanza, our Ambassador to the @UbaloziUSA, to discuss ways and modalities of working together to advance Tanzania's interests in the United States and the United Nations.
Today, 13 May 2026, Ambassador Swahiba Mndeme paid a courtesy call to H.E. Barbara Jones, Ambassador of Ireland and Chair of the Network of Women Ambassadors in Sweden.
Ambassador Jones warmly welcomed Ambassador Swahiba to the network, as they shared meaningful conversations on the power of networking, collaboration, and mutual support among women diplomats serving in Sweden.
Ambassador Swahiba also expressed her appreciation for Ambassador Jones’ inspiring leadership and continued efforts in advancing women’s leadership through the Network of Women Ambassadors.
The meeting further highlighted the strong and longstanding friendship between Tanzania and Ireland, and the importance of continued development cooperation in areas of Health, Education , Trade and Investment and Women empowerment🇹🇿🇮🇪

Ambassador Noel Kaganda meets Ambassador Ahn Eunju to strengthen Tanzania–Korea cooperation
The Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Noel Kaganda, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Ahn Eunju, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to strengthen and advance collaboration, particularly in economic development, trade, and investment. They also underscored the importance of sharing knowledge and experience across various sectors to improve efficiency and drive sustainable development.
Both sides expressed their commitment to exploring new strategic partnership opportunities to deliver tangible benefits to the people of Tanzania and South Korea.
The Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the United Republic of Tanzania, Mr. Ivan Lančarič, held discussions with the Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ms. Ellen Maduhu, on 14 April 2026 in Dar es Salaam.
During the meeting, Ambassador Lančarič expressed his appreciation to the Ministry for successfully facilitating a series of high-level engagements he had requested, including meetings with the President of Zanzibar, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Planning and Investment.
The two sides also discussed preparations for the forthcoming visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, scheduled for June 2026. They emphasized that the visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation between Tanzania and Slovakia.
The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Tanzania was officially opened in November 2025, with Mr. Lančarič serving as the first resident Ambassador. Prior to this, Slovakia was represented through its Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.
On 8 April 2026, Ambassador Jestas Nyamanga chaired a meeting of the Group of African Ambassadors in Brussels (GAAB), where members exchanged views on a range of issues of common interest, including ways to further advance the AU–EU partnership.
Tanzania currently holds the Chair of the Group, having taken over from South Sudan, and is focused on strengthening coordination and promoting a more unified voice among African Missions in Brussels.
Tanzania, Kenya Deepen Strategic Ties to Boost Trade and Regional Integration
Tanzania and Kenya have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with leaders from both countries emphasizing deeper cooperation in trade, diplomacy, and regional development.
Speaking during high-level consultations between the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Tanzania’s Permanent Secretary, Amb. Dr. Samwel Shelukindo, underscored the enduring partnership anchored in shared interests and guided by structured frameworks such as the Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) and Joint Trade Committees (JTC).
He noted that ongoing engagements between ministries and experts have laid a strong foundation for productive outcomes, particularly in key sectors including energy, security, industry, and investment.
Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening economic ties. He highlighted that bilateral trade has surpassed one billion US dollars, alongside steadily growing two-way investments between the two countries.
The meeting also addressed the removal of non-tariff barriers, with both sides committing to resolve outstanding issues by mid-2026. In this regard, plans are underway to convene a Joint Trade Committee meeting and organize a major business forum expected to bring together over 200 companies from both countries.
Discussions further touched on the upcoming State Visit of H.E. Dr. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, to Tanzania, where he is expected to hold bilateral talks with his host, Her Excellency, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs Mr. Ally Gugu, and the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Trade Mr. Aristides Mbwasi, from Tanzania’s Ministry of Industry and Trade also participated in the meeting.
TANZANIA AND AfDB STRENGTHEN STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has affirmed that the partnership between Tanzania and the African Development Bank (AfDB) in implementing strategic development projects continues to deepen, significantly contributing to the country’s economic growth.
He made these remarks on March 25, 2026, while receiving letters of credence from the newly appointed AfDB Resident Representative in Tanzania, Ms. Mary Manneko Monyau, at the Ministry’s sub-office in Dar es Salaam.
Hon. Kombo highlighted that the ongoing collaboration is largely focused on priority sectors, including infrastructure, transport, and energy, which are critical drivers of Tanzania’s economic transformation. He noted that AfDB is currently financing 27 projects in the country, among them the Dodoma Outer Ring Road, the construction of Msalato International Airport, the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), and a submarine power cable project linking the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba, and Mafia.
He congratulated Ms. Monyau on her appointment and expressed the Government’s strong confidence in her leadership and expertise, particularly in light of her commendable performance during her tenure as Resident Representative in Sudan.
Ms. Monyau emphasized that the AfDB will focus on aligning its initiatives with Tanzania's Development Vision 2050. The bank aims to increase access to capital and support projects that enhance Tanzania's financial independence, promote youth employment, enable infrastructure and Stimulate industrial growth and trade across the entire region

Yesterday, ahead of the Summit, the EAC supported by @eacgiz convened a capacity-building session in Arusha for 24 journalists from across EAC Partner States to deepen their understanding of regional integration and enhance informed reporting that brings the programme and activities of East Africa’s integration closer to the citizens.

Arrived in Arusha, Tanzania, for the 25th Ordinary Summit of the East African Community Heads of State to further advance regional integration, strengthen economic cooperation, and deepen the bonds that unite our people across the region.
The Minister of State in the President’s Office (Special Duties), Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, held discussions with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Hon. Shirley Botchwey, focused on strengthening cooperation in good governance, democracy, and shared development.
During the talks, among other topics, Prof. Kabudi mentioned that Tanzania continues to value the role and contribution of the Commonwealth in promoting international cooperation and strengthening democratic institutions.
Hon. Botchwey praised Tanzania for its active participation and contribution to Commonwealth activities and committed to continuing efforts to enhance cooperation with member states.
The meetings took place in London, where Prof. Kabudi is on an official visit to attend Commonwealth gatherings involving the organization’s 56 member states. These include the 72nd Meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) scheduled for March 7, 2026, and the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting scheduled for March 8, 2026.
Tanzania and India Continue to Strengthen Cooperation
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of India have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing historical and brotherly cooperation between the two nations.
This was discussed during bilateral talks held on March 6, 2026 in New Delhi between the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Ngwaru Maghembe, and India’s Minister of External Affairs, Hon. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to further enhance collaboration in strategic sectors including water resources, agriculture, technology, health, blue economy, transport, trade, and investment. The discussions reflected the shared commitment of both countries to deepen economic ties and expand opportunities for sustainable development.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Maghembe expressed appreciation to India for being a key development partner of Tanzania and commended the steady growth of trade between the two countries.
He also encouraged Indian investors to explore and expand investment opportunities in Tanzania, particularly in value addition for agricultural products such as cashew nuts, sunflower, palm oil, and leather products, as well as through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).
For his part, Dr. Jaishankar welcomed the continued growth of cooperation between India and Tanzania, noting that the partnership has significantly contributed to increased trade and investment flows between the two countries.
India remains one of Tanzania’s major trading partners and has invested in more than 600 projects across the country, generating direct employment opportunities for over 60,000 Tanzanians.
Dr. Maghembe is currently in India on an official working visit and is participating in the Raisina Dialogue 2026 on behalf of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.
The meeting was also attended by Tanzania’s High Commissioner to India, H.E. Anisa Mbega and the Director of the Asia and Australasia Department at the Ministry, Ms. Felista Rugambwa.
