@RepNancyMace Republicans in Congress love tweeting about random amendments/resolutions on culture-war trivia while ignoring affordability. No wonder nothing gets done on housing, energy, or prices. Prioritize real solutions over virtue signaling. That's why you are almost unemployed!
This is why people despise politicians.
There is huge support left, right, and center to end insider trading in Congressโa true 80/20 issue.
A bill that had wide bipartisan support to end this was blocked from coming to a vote by the Speaker of the House.
Here is what the Speaker had previously said: "Let them engage in some stock trading so they can continue to, you know, take care of their family".
Those poor members of Congress only make $174,000 a year, along with incredible benefits, after all.
Then, the Speaker of the House pushed forward a weaker version of a bill to stop Congress from trading stocks but also included the nonsense about needing a passport or birth certificate to vote, just so that he could say Democrats voted against it.
He wasn't trying to solve a problem. He was creating a talking point for the midterm elections.
This is the crap people are tired of.
Instead of wasting time trying to create fake outrage, why don't politicians actually solve problems for once? Then, when it is election time, they can list all of their accomplishments instead of trying to create fear and outrage through tricks and lies.
Enough already.
Clean House. Vote them out. Fill it with new candidates. If they don't do their jobs, vote them out again and again until Washington gets the message that its job is to work for the people.
Byron Donalds hid $1.6 MILLION in secret stock trades, including bets on the exact companies his own committee regulates.
And that's not even the worst thing about him.
5 of the top reason I found on why Byron Donalds is dangerous for Florida:
1. THE SECRET TRADES
He made 108 stock trades for ~ $1.6M and ZERO disclosures for two straight years. A nonpartisan watchdog said he was the only member of Congress who filed nothing, and some of the trades were in health insurers and a bank his Financial Services Committee oversees.
2. HE VOTED TO GUT YOUR HEALTHCARE
He voted for the bill that slashed ~$800B from Medicaid, estimated to rip health coverage from nearly 1,000,000 Floridians. And he did so in the oldest state in America.
3. HE ABANDONED HIS OWN HURRICANE VICTIMS
Hurricane Ian flattened HIS district. He voted AGAINST the bill that funded FEMA's disaster relief, then begged for Ian money a week later. He lied to you all. Performative politics.
4. THE FAMILY CASH MACHINE
He pushes school privatization while his wife's charter companies rake in MILLIONS of your tax dollars. Then a school privatization billionaire gave him $7.5M for his Governor run. So, it seems self fulfilling.
5. THE SECOND-CHANCE HYPOCRITE
He has a felony record and admitted he was dealing drugs, but he got diversion, probation, and a wiped-clean record....he THEN voted to DENY that same second chance to other young people. Hypocrite.
Florida, don't put another low life in office like Cory Mills and Randy Fine. You have a chance to kick these scums to the curb. @ByronDonalds looks to be a hypocritical, grifter who wants to be in office to better his life and f* yours. You have been warned.
