Me: entering Japanese cat café.
employee stops me immediately.
Employee: One rule.
Me: Okay.
Employee: Orange cat bites people from France.
Me: I’m not French.
Employee: Good.
I sit down, cats everywhere, peaceful, adorable, therapeutic.
then gigantic orange cat jumps onto table, built like retired wrestler.
Cat staring at me aggressively.
Employee watching nervously from distance.
Me: I thought he only hated French people.
Employee: He improvises.
cat slowly pushes my drink off table while maintaining eye contact.
Me: THIS IS TARGETED.
small child nearby points at cat.
Child: That one evil.
Employee: No no, He just passionate.
cat suddenly climbs onto my lap, starts purring violently.
Me: …wait he likes me?
Employee shocked.
Employee: Impossible.
another worker comes over, then another, entire staff now observing me like chosen prophet.
Manager arrives.
Manager: He has never trusted customer before.
Me: What does that mean.
Manager bows slightly.
Manager: You must take him.
Me: TAKE HIM WHERE.
orange cat already asleep on me.
Employee quietly bringing adoption papers.
Me: I CAME HERE FOR COFFEE.
Wake to my
#Investiture
To altar
I am chained
Don’t know
How I got here
All I know
Is I’m in pain
I’m ringed by
Dark acolytes
Who slowly
Chant my name
Their chants make
My power rise
My hunger, too
For brains
Snap my chains
& eat them—
It’s their fault
I feel no blame

@nullWristMotion@prettycritical It's nice you're trying to be reasonable about it. People get so extreme. Good luck being the voice of 'pragmatic use' in a room of reactionaries
@sophieisawitch That’s peak lab life, crying into your data while your tiny boss witnesses a full meltdown from the coral reef section. Science really humbles you, one awkward discovery at a time.
@ESnyderman @rockrnger @kisstheblade_@detachment_red Thank you! I saw "the mortifying ordeal of being known" on a meme of a possum screaming into the void and didn't realize there was a whole article more
@unfins That's so refreshing! I'm glad you're doing better things with your time.
Duke of Hell was the funniest ❤️ the plot was so deep too, such drama and action. I love Vin and his sword 😆 Everything tied up so well with the main cast! Great finish
Guys you have no idea about the scripts I read. It’s my job. Heartbreaking dramas. Wildly funny comedies. Groundbreaking sci fi. Diverse voices. Amazing love stories. Biopics of fascinating people I’ve never heard of.
Almost none of them get made.
It’s not the writers.
We are creating a list of magazines that aren’t afraid to publish work that explores sex and pleasure in more explicit ways.
Who are your favorites?
Bonus points if they’re currently open for submissions.
I'm locked in this library. Seven magpies took my key.
The books conclude I'm here for good, now that they've read me.
I'm living on surprising terms and obsolete words, in a nest of tiny fictions, feathered with absurd.

I was branding my name into his flesh while he spent the summer writing about our brief #dalliance. I collected falling stars while he hummed sad songs. One thing about me? I always played the long game. I never could walk away from a raging flame. #vss365
Death watched the cat drop the mouse at his feet.
*Meow."
*Thank you … Again. But you know this #dalliance can't go on much longer."
*Meow."
"I do like the gifts. But do you know you only have 9 lives?*
"Meow."
Death sighed. "Okay. 1 more."
The cat smiled and faded.

Time to share my 2022 Short Story Recommended Reading List! The short story is one of my favorite forms for SFF storytelling, and y’all have done sterling work with it this year. I’ll tag as many authors and zines as I can. Brace yourselves for a big thread.
Compliments for humans:
"For a thing so full of blood, it's amazing you don't slosh when you walk."
"Three breath-holes? Now you're just showing off."
"The way you move makes it hard to believe you're stuffed with bones."
"Wow, that's a lot of skin, but you really make it work."
