Utilizing a Constraints-Led Approach (CLA) is much more than "just playing the game"...
It is an overriding objective for me to present movement problems in training that look more like, feel more like, and unfold more like, that which the player will have to interact with on Sundays.
So, why not just 'play the game'?
Well, we do...but with the complexity and information scaled accordingly (creating slices/snippets of the game) so players can be given a lot of go's (reps) in solving alive movement problems under safe uncertainty while harnessing repetition without repetition.
Here, we must be purposeful with our manipulation of constraints for numerous reasons.
In this blog post from a number of years back now, I discuss these topics along with a short NFL player case study.
