@MegWaldronMS Agree with many of the above. Some need to know ahead and some get anxious and prefer to go with the flow. A lot of our kids love to try to predict and I’ve learned that I’m predictable!
XC is a team sport, yes?
And how do you help your team? By being the best runner you can be.
So don't skip the "little things" and make sure to get plenty of sleep.
Your teammates are counting on you.
HS XC Athletes: Can you get 5 percent better from today until the end of the season?
If so, you can make these types of jumps...
7:00 pace - 21:53 to 20:47
6:30 pace - 20:19 to 19:18
6:00 pace - 18:45 to 17:49
5:30 pace - 17:12 to 16:20
5:00 pace - 15:38 to 14:52
Let's go!
Raise the floor. Don't just focus on the ceiling.
When it comes to performance, our average days matter more than our best.
It's easy to show up when everything is clicking
But what impacts our success more is being pretty good day after day
Make your okay days better.
Your kid's going to be okay. Support them the best you can.
Don't get caught up chasing status or playing the comparison game.
Let them follow their interests, keep stoking the inner fire of motivation, and they'll figure it out.
Surround Yourself Wisely
Moods and behaviors are contagious. Research from the Framingham study found that sadness and happiness rippled through the town. Living nearby a friend who becomes happy increases your probability of becoming happy by 25%.
@lukeburgis In sports, there are so many adults who convince parents that they must do W exclusive camp, go to X school, join Y team, have Z private trainer.
And it’s all a delusion. Doesn’t matter
It’s preying on parents insecurities (kids falling behind, not achieving sport dream, etc
How to be a healthy runner:
Be a healthy person.
- eat well
- look after your mental health
- nurture strong relationships
- practice good sleep hygiene
Take care of the basics first.
@Tier1athlete We have 1600 kids in our school and our counseling department gets to all of them. They’re incredible I don’t know how they do it. @WWP_Schools @david_aderhold
@Tier1athlete@brooke_rasnick@Coachseanmccaff Well, like Coach McCaff said, they’re kids. If the equivalency is that the recruits are the employees to this business, then yes that’s a turn off. A big one actually. Would I coach at a school that was concerned I didn’t post enough pictures of coaching? No. Thats just me
