WK
no regime resorts to this unless it knows it's in serious trouble.
this sort of censorship constitutes an open admission that you cannot convince and so must compel.
trying to win this in the internet age will make winning the war on drugs look plausible.
it's a massive own goal to galvanize opinion against you.
🚨DEVELOPING: Germany is now launching an international manhunt (!) for a man, just to throw him into a women’s prison. You can’t parody this country anymore.
BACKGROUND: Marla-Svenja Liebich is biologically male. For years, he was known as a right-wing activist in Chemnitz, constantly clashing with authorities. After receiving a prison sentence for calling queer people “parasites of society” and tattooing a Star of David with the word “unvaccinated,” he suddenly declared himself female and invoked Germany’s new Selbstbestimmungsgesetz, a law that allows anyone to legally change their gender based on self-identification.
By doing so, he forced the state to classify him as a woman and assign him to a women’s prison. Instead of serving his time, however, he fled abroad yesterday. Now Germany is staging a full-blown international manhunt to catch a guy who outsmarted their own clown-law, just so they can lock him up in a women’s prison. 🤡🌎
Almost a decade ago I was the Harvard economist that said that bitcoin was more likely to be worth $100 than 100k. What did I miss? I was far too optimistic about the US coming to its senses about sensible cryptocurrency regulation; why would policymakers want to facilitate tax evasion and illegal activities? Second, I did not appreciate how Bitcoin would compete with fiat currencies to serve as the transactions medium of choice in the twenty-trillion dollar global underground economy. This demand puts a floor on its price, as I discuss at length in my new book Our Dollar, Your Problem. Third, I did not anticipate a situation where regulators, and especially the regulator in chief, would be able to brazenly hold hundreds of millions (if not billions) of dollars in cryptocurrencies seemingly without consequence given the blatant conflict of interest.
