Our Ag. Director, Public Education and Advocacy (DPEA), Judy Twala, made a presentation on Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug Abuse (ADA) issues among Kenyan learners during the Inaugural Mental Health Capacity Building Workshop held at the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB), Nandi County.
The workshop, themed "Strengthening School Counselling for Safer Learning," brought together education stakeholders to strengthen school counselling, psychosocial support, substance-use prevention, early identification, referral, and learner wellbeing.
Our Board Member, Mr. Benjamin Kuttoh, was the Keynote Speaker, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in creating safe and supportive learning environments for learners.

Our County Office, in collaboration with the Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) and the Ministry of Education in Baringo County, engaged junior secondary school teachers on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (ADA) Prevention, Management, and Referral strategies via 1192.
We also disseminated National Guidelines and policies that guide teachers, students, and parents in empowering them on ADA.

MAJOR BLOW TO ILLICIT BREW NETWORKS: OUR MULTI-AGENCY TEAMS SEIZE OVER 17,000 LITRES IN KIBRA AND NYAKACH. ๐จ๐งก
Our NACADA-led multi-agency teams have delivered significant blows to illicit brew networks in two separate operations.
In Kibra Subcounty, we inspected alcohol outlets at Laini Saba, discovering 2,400 litres of Mugasa illicit brew being sold in two pubs. The two proprietors were arrested and booked at Kibra Police Station.
Today at dawn in Rang'ul Location, Nyakach Subcounty, Kisumu County, our multi-agency team, comprising National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) and National Government Administration Police Unit (NGAPU), recovered 180 litres of changaa and 15,000 litres of kangara.
We remain committed to dismantling illicit brew networks across the country.

Our Elgeyo Marakwet County Coordination Office responded to an invitation by St. Marks Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Church Iten, Keiyo North Subcounty.
We appreciated the church because churches play an important role in preventing substance use among young people by providing positive values, supportive relationships, life skills, mentorship, and safe spaces.
We discussed different drugs, their effects, and addiction progression, and encouraged congregants to normalize seeking help and speaking out. We also shared the toll free helpline 1192 for confidential support.
Faith based partnerships are essential for reaching young people and families with prevention messages.
DEVELOPING COMMUNITY-BASED REHABILITATION GUIDELINES: A CRITICAL STEP FORWARD. ๐งก๐
Our Legal & Board Services Director, Leackey Illa, on behalf of the CEO Dr. Anthony @omerikwa officially opened the Phase 2 workshop of the Technical Working Group (TWG) developing Community-Based Rehabilitation Guidelines.
He reiterated the importance and urgency of the guidelines and appreciated the team for their commitment and dedication.
Community-based rehabilitation is central to our vision of accessible, compassionate care for individuals with substance use disorders .
Today, I paid a courtesy call to @NACADAKenya@TwalaJudy to engage on youth-centered prevention, recovery support, and psychosocial interventions.

The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) has intensified its crackdown on the illicit alcohol trade, shifting its focus to dismantling supply networks behind the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit brews. According to the CEO, Anthony Omerikwa, the authority is prioritizing intelligence-led operations aimed at targeting the main manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of counterfeit alcohol, which he described as a growing threat to public health and social stability. #starkenyanews
National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has said the closure is due to due to serious violations that posed risks to clients, including expired medicines, poor hygiene, unsafe structures, and a lack of qualified medical personnel.

Regional Forum on Women, Digital Security & Artificial Intelligence
In the afternoon, the forum confronted rising digital risks facing women from cyber harassment and online gender-based violence to data breaches, surveillance, and misinformation.
Stories and lived experiences highlighted how online spaces can both empower and endanger. The session underscored the urgent need for stronger protection mechanisms, digital rights awareness, and gender-responsive policy frameworks across Member States.
