Health workers in Vihiga County have taken to the streets to demand fair treatment from the executive, led by Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo.

The protest comes amidst grievances related to various issues affecting their working conditions and welfare.

Here are some Key Points Raised by Health Workers.

1. Victimization and Disciplinary Actions: Some workers claim to have been victimized with the executive labelling it as disciplinary action.

2. Unpaid Salaries: Many health workers allege that they have not received their salaries for the past five months which has led to extreme financial strain.

3. Segregation and Illegal Transfers: Complaints regarding alleged segregation in promotions and illegal transfers within the health sector.

4. Delayed Confirmation Letters and Salary Arrears: Health workers claim they have not received their confirmation letters and are owed salary arrears spanning more than five years.

5. Salary Denial in Sabatia Constituency: Health workers from Sabatia Constituency claim they have been denied salaries for two months allegedly as punishment from the county administration due to their area Member of Parliament Sloya Clement being vocal in seeking the Governor's attention in addressing health workers issues.

6. Suspension of Vihiga County Referral Hospital: The Chief Officer, Madam Mary Anyenda, is accused of irregularly suspending activities at the Vihiga County Referral Hospital.

The Governor's office is yet to issue a response to the grievances raised by the protesting health workers.
