I have a piece in @WNGdotorg Opinions today.
Despite my Stage IV cancer diagnosis, I won't be hastening my death under New York's #AssistedSuicide law. Read the piece to learn why.

The new bipartisan bill introduced in the U.S. Congress calls for a closer examination of developments in Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and the wider Sahel region.
The bill focuses on the growing strength of al Qaeda linked groups (JNIM), how they finance themselves through gold and illicit trade, and the region’s increasingly close relations with Russia, and aims to reassess Washington’s policy in a region where jihadist groups are gaining strength, military led governments are distancing themselves from the West, and Russian influence is growing.
Five years ago today, 13 brave and patriotic American service members were senselessly killed by Islamic terrorists during one of the greatest foreign policy blunders in modern history. We stand with Gold Star Families and recommit ourselves to honoring their memory.
"After two decades with New York Families, my primary duty is now to ensure that this ministry is faithfully and effectively handed off to the next generation of leadership," writes @revjmcguire, executive director of New York Families Foundation.

I'm only a sample size of one, but this is much more in line with my personal experience.
Besides one very difficult circumstance I went through involving a church that has made it where there are two or three worship songs I usually need to step out during when they're played, I have next to no "bodily" response to the most traumatic things I've been through.
I believe it largely has to do with the environments and relationships I was in after those experiences and the stories I grew up believing (positively) about those experiences, despite the enormous complexities they created in my life.
Much more complex than "something bad happened and my body won't let it go."

Ransoms for kidnapping are destroying the Sahel. It started with Western tourists in 2003 - now the UAE seemed to have made a record payment. A $50 million hostage ransom funded al Qaeda's Mali offensive, UN says https://t.co/Dp4bZ9Ki0l
#Niger🇳🇪 - @nytimes reports that US🇺🇸 citizen Kevin Rideout who was abducted last year in Niamey is now free. He was reportedly handed over to @FBI agents in good health and is on the way back to the US. https://t.co/SB0TtX2MkL
This is the first long-form piece I've written in a year:
Why this topic? Because, for starters, 250,000 girls were raped. Unimaginable and appalling though that is—the reality is much worse:
So after all the pre-tournament criticism, angst, and fearmongering (much done with anticipatory glee), the 2026 World Cup was a historic success. Incredible games, record crowds/viewers, and a cultural phenomenon. People were safe, entertained, and joyous. Visitors discovered, and Americans were reminded, just how wonderful our country is, all through the lens of soccer. I’m so happy for, and proud of, my country. Best World Cup ever. Thank you, America. 🇺🇸
