Pendant un cours à l’université, le bébé d’une étudiante s’est mis à pleurer sans pouvoir se calmer. Pensant qu’elle dérangeait, la jeune mère s’est levée pour sortir de la salle.
Mais le professeur Sydney Engelberg s’est approché d’elle, a pris le bébé dans ses bras, l’a doucement apaisé… puis il a continué à donner son cours sans manquer une seule note, marchant dans la salle avec l’enfant contre lui.
Engelberg permet à ses étudiantes de venir en classe avec leurs enfants, et même d’allaiter pendant le cours.
Sa philosophie est simple, mais profondément humaine :
Aucune mère ne devrait avoir à choisir entre son éducation et son enfant.
Ce geste, capturé en photo, a rapidement fait le tour du monde. Il est devenu un symbole d’empathie, d’inclusion et d’humanité dans le monde universitaire.
Un simple moment…
mais une grande leçon de respect et de compassion.
