The summit was attended by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, where discussions were held on enhancing India–Norway cooperation in sectors such as clean energy, food security, fertilizers, fisheries, research and shipbuilding. Four more sites in India get declared as #Ramsar sites. These are Thol and Wadhwana from #Gujarat and Sultanpur and Bhindawas from #Haryana. With this, the number of Ramsar sites in India is 46 and the surface area covered by these sites is now 1,083,322 hectares.
Sustainable development policy needs to be firmly rooted in a systems approach to analysis, which acknowledges the direct and indirect drivers of change while minimizing trade-offs and harvesting synergy.
