I can’t overstate this enough: one of the most important skills you can learn as an adult is how to do boring tasks efficiently and without significant external pressure
And if it’s supposed to be the whole point then why wasn’t it emphasized more? I just feel like if you go through the movie scene by scene and look for this through-line in the dialogue or the performances, you won’t find it outside of a few moments
My biggest problem with the film tbh. This and the intimate scene from earlier on where ‘Nikki’ is staring blankly at the ceiling raise some serious questions surrounding consent that I don’t think the movie is equipped to tackle. Just makes it feel like cheap shock value
nikki crying out for bear to kill her and his response being to get mad and say “what would be so bad about being with me?” is the entire point of the film
Not to mention that Bear is impossible to relate to from this point on, which makes his interactions with the copy-and-paste quirky-alt-girl character in the scene immediately afterwards lose any sense of weight. Also makes me not give a shit when he kills himself at the end
@uglybangs1 I think the tone and structure are pretty fresh for her, although some of that might just be the result of me perceiving her music differently now due to her newfound stardom. Also what was weird or crazy 10 years ago is not necessarily weird or crazy now, and vice versa
Passed a man whose shirt read "I found love in Niles, Illinois." My heart lept. Romance had triumphed yet again. I turn, and see plastered across the back "And it was only 200 bucks!" Ah. Nothing but a cruel mockery. This bitter cynicism will save no one.
@Schaffrillas The ending is just to kind of wrap the whole thing up in a farcical bow. The primary themes and ideas are well communicated in the primary text, and then the show just kind of shrugs and says “you get the point, let’s just call it quits” which I sort of respect
@wildstwawberry cEDH brewers make tons of decks and those cards appear in every cEDH deck in those colors so that ends up skewing the data. On top of lots of people just thinking they are good cards
