@McClellanOsc SGOV might be better, tracking 0 to 3 month treasuries, and its not down on a YTD, 3yr, or 5 yr basis like SHY. Very similar yields, less risk.
@feelthebyrn1 I am interested in adding lactate but based on my efficiency bike vs run I think I should focus on the run first for performance testing. Here are our recent tests on the bike. Our run numbers are closer to 25 bm apart.
@gfc4 Correct, the government want's that tax income. For Gen Z kids, using these RMDs to max out their own 401k/IRAs or even taking advantage of deferred compensation if your employer offers it will reduce the tax hit.
@feelthebyrn1 I tell my kids you never know who is going to show up on race day (i.e. triathlons in BOCO!). Do your best on that day, that's all you can ask.
@fluidathletics are those sessions the hardest miles of the week or do you get any distance in at under goal race pace? I'd think the mile repeats in the hard session would be faster than your current race pace, but looks like you may be running an experiment.
@Catalyst2Thrive very impressive times. I'm early 50's and hoping to lower my current 21:xx back to 19:xx. What do you attribute the latest time gains to? Curious to see when in that timeline you adopted super shoes, if you have.
@feelthebyrn1 Going shorter was just what I needed. Age group win at the Boulder Sunrise sprint yesterday, 4th male. Peter V (national champ and former world champ) 55-59 yr old won the whole thing! Tim H and Kevin K went 2 and 3 overall in the Olympic. Old guys rule!
@feelthebyrn1 I saw these results, completely floored by the consistency. For reference, 3 mi treadmill this morning at 7:12/mile average with build to 6:37 last mile. 10 mile treadmill three weeks ago, 8:00/mile (10 mile PR). 13.1 at the 70.3 in Boulder heat wave, 10:15/mile!
@feelthebyrn1 I averaged 10 hours a week last year and now with 2 kids in high school and one driving I might be able to squeeze it to 12 to 14 next year. I'm going to do at least 1 shorter race to see if I'm better suited (and happier!) for that now than the 70.3 distance.
@feelthebyrn1 that run today in 90 degree heat out-split your run at sea level in Oceanside from a few months ago. Astounding! I came off the bike in 3rd 50-54 and promptly fell apart in the heat. A bit of that is probably mental, but the bike was well in control at only 199W.
