I wish Call of Duty would move away from yearly releases but doubt that ever happens at this point.
It would lose Activision / Microsoft so much money in the short term from yearly purchases that I doubt they’d ever try it until the franchise is on its literal death bed.
@AngelDanger45@CyanFPS_ I respect this but also, I don't think it's fair to say "16 months vs. bo7 4 year development", Treyarch had to push out Black Ops 6 just the year prior, and update it throughout the year, on top of helping develop modes in games like Vanguard and MWII. It's pretty misleading
@UndeadPunisher9@YouPoor_OldSod@IGN What about Biden Derangement Syndrome?
or Obama Derangement Syndrome? Trump fans who came up with this "TDS" literally do the same shit 🤣
I’m gonna say it…
I don’t think Modern Warfare 4 is a bad game, hell it’s actually good in a lot of aspects.
However I can’t lie, I don’t think this is going to be a good year for COD and I don’t know what they need to do to get back to the peak they used to have.
This is EXACTLY what we’re warning about.
Content you “purchased” can disappear from your library because a licensing agreement changes.
Now imagine a digital-only future where your entire game library works under the same basic principle: you don’t own a permanent copy... you own access subject to a license.
And even after removing something you PAID FOR, @Sony actually end the notice with “Thank you.” 💀
This is why ownership and physical media matters. This is why consumer choice matters.
@DeemsterMr@charlieINTEL@InfinityWard Hahaha. They might as well take Casual Pubs out of CoD then, and just have the whole community on League Play/Ranked since it's gonna be the same experience anyway...
From my perspective, this shouldn't justify the complete removal of persistent lobbies and their unmeasured benefits, even if it's just persistent for a handful of matches like BO7 used to handle it in normal modes. Persistent Lobbies:
- Allow for a feeling of playing in a social environment against real people so there's no sense of community or ability to form friendships and rivalries. Why care who I'm playing with/against if it's guaranteed to disband?
- Help create more of a "story" of a session where there's back and forth and your previous nemesis maybe ends up on your team and you mesh well together or you have rematch after rematch while being able to learn player behavior and adapt to them across matches if they decide to stay
- Help keep a generally consistent pace of a session as well with clearly defined breaks between matches instead of instantly being thrown into another match
- Can help keep some consistency with map rotation (when handled properly)
- Allow you to stick with a good connection lobby for multiple games instead of being bounced all over from one side of the continent to the next like I very often seem to experience
If people want to leave, then they should be able to do that with no issue but by forcing lobbies to disband after every match, you remove player agency and create a disjointed, anti-social experience which harms the player experience for many and yet, these negative effects likely don't show up in the specific metrics that are being tracked here. Call of Duty used to be all about community but it seems a lot of that has been thrown away in the pursuit of optimizing certain metrics. I thought the BO7 system was at least a decent compromise as it allowed a solid chance of a lobby sticking together, even though it would disband eventually. Either way, there has to be a better solution than just removing persistent lobbies and all of those potential benefits entirely.
One thing I will say now is how much I hate this part. I don't care if 50% of the people decide to leave after a match; that choice should be in their hands and not forced on them. This completely ignores the many benefits to the player experience that persistent lobbies provide that may not show up in these specific metrics that they seem to be chasing. https://t.co/xVVK2JrLoZ
@the_clay_bird@strawberrymiak@CallofDuty So you want to take away match variety and have every single game go 100-99?
OP's comment wasn't even about blowouts, it's more about joining a match in progress lmao.
Nuketown 24/7 isn't exactly a great source.
@Kor3aYn Brother, did you not buy the 8th gen version of this game? It's already on PS4 and can be played natively on PS5!
The least they can do is simply update that version and give us 4K 120.
Believe me, a 7th gen port is the last thing you want lol
@DamienHarrisEra@tonypatrick1300@tdawgsmitty@Kor3aYn The launch maps and especially that color palette the game went for were definitely trash though ngl 😂
The Sadcom is one of those things that sounds good on paper, but will never work. I'm so glad they never brought that shit back lmao
