@EMcardiac@DocOnSkis@kat__evans@slahri7 I have seen it only twice in my shop. Evidently the joburg weed must be different or our poor patients have little context for hot showers. I used haloperidol for them too.
Proud of my colleague who saved a patient with a stab ๐ at a district hospital. District hospitals in SA are usually not able to perform complex surgery in theatre. Could have been a tragic loss of life. The hospital posted this public memo.
The Charing Cross ED consultants out in force today. We support our junior doctor colleagues in their campaign for #payrestoration. Showing our support by keeping our department running & our patients safe, so our juniors can take industrial action ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ #JuniorDoctorsStrike
Session 2: what a young group of speakers! Imaging the brain with an ultrasound??? I say โwitchcraft!โ. Transcranial Doppler with @jakusventer #emssapocussymposium@Edbuggie check it out!
@EMcardiac@HartJedd@angelgabriel052 The RFQ process is a nightmare. Under the detailed specs I put a line that as end user I must verify the quality of the product prior to PO generation even if itโs just a brochure from the company to verify the product is correct.
A little thread on superlatives in acute medical care, and how they can cause confusion and misunderstanding.
Let's start with hypertension. What makes it an emergency?
Until hospitals realize that access block is about patients leaving the wards and not because the ED is doing something wrong nothing will change. Adding more ED beds doesnโt fix the outflow problemโฆ @angelgabriel052@EMcardiac@LChadEM
@emlitofnote Great screening tool. Any stable patient on spine board or scoop gets LODOXed in our shop. Has also helped us pick up weapons (guns/knives) on some patients.
@EMcardiac@First10EM@emtrenchdoc@HartJedd Exactly theyโre not just boarder stats theyโre faces of real people. To be sick enough for admission and then made to wait on chairs for days is violation of patient dignity.
@EMcardiac@First10EM@emtrenchdoc@LChadEM The poor manager would spend half the day in the EDโฆ then even less would get done! ๐ ๐ but I would love that policy. It would really help to hammer home the message that access block is a symptom of hospital dysfunction and not an ED dysfunctionโฆ
A desperate cry for help from frontline health worker dedicated to the public sector in a neglected facility bearing the name of a struggle icon. A disgrace of how little is being done to address a lingering problem for which there is a quick fix if meaningful governance.
