As a #scientist, it's been bothering me that I have no data to challenge #ToiletPaperPanic among family & friends. How much toilet paper does a family need per week, month? So I did some research. Toilet paper use is an interesting (& p'haps understudied topic) #SciComm (I think)

@MHendr1cks I once tried to build my own DNA extraction kits for a project. If memory serves it was basically silica and a bunch of buffers. It did not go well but I was an undergrad so grain of salt I guess.
