In a great classroom... the students aren’t the only learners. The TEACHER is a learner also. When teachers are curious, when they are vulnerable, when they continue to grow... they provide stronger instruction, and they provide a great example for their students.
In guided reading, students typically discuss the text as a group after reading the text. Ask them to turn and talk for a short time first so they can get their thinking into words and then have something to share with the group. #FPLiteracy

Then, in the name of scaffolding, we tell 'em what the claim should be, suggest the evidence they should use & mandate a structure.
If these don't eventually go away, they are not scaffolds. They're impediments to critical thinking
