Who’s doing this in Elder’s Quorum? Our presidency did it once after the change went out, then it hasn’t happened since. What kind of discussions have you had?
@LDS_Dems My oldest is going for the first time this year - I’m really excited. No we really need a more structured YM program for the rest of the year. I have high hopes for the new presidency.
@SenorVito9 Be the one to send emails for everything (lesson pre reading, activities, inspirational messages, etc.) Actually schedule activities. Not everyone will go, but men need to get together without their families. Coordinate with other wards if you need to for critical mass. Good luck
@1mikemackley@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason I guess we disagree about the harm of porn vs. the harm of seeing homosexual behavior like holding hands. I don’t believe homosexuality is contagious.
@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason Unless I’m told by the prophet to specifically shun only people who sin in this certain way because it happens to be more visible than other sins, I’ll treat them the same as anyone else. Love and kindness.
@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason Agreed. It clearly states there that acting on SSA is not in accordance with Heavenly Father’s plan and church doctrine. But we all do this when we willfully sin every day. We’re all sinners!
@1mikemackley@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason Showing people pornography and holding hands in front of them is not the same thing. I hope you realize that.
It seems you think inclusivity is a bad thing. See the handbook.
@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason Honestly none of my business. If they are obeying the law of chastity, they get a temple recommend. If they come to church saying uncharitable things, taking the sacrament with the left hand, talking about violent, profanity-laden movies, I’m not ok with it but I love them still.
@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason Would it make me uncomfortable? Sure. The same if someone was snoring in a session. I can’t speak for what a temple pres. would do.
But this is the strongest language I could find in the handbook (38.6.15) against two men engaging in non-sexual same-sex behavior.
@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason We know SSA is not a sin and breaking the LOC is a sin What do you think it means that “the church distinguishes between” SSA and SS behavior when it comes to worthiness? That doesn’t seem to be defined anywhere, so it’s really none of my business. Love others and teach the LOC.
@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason Yeah that’s interesting. My focus is on the law of chastity for temple recommend questions. That law isn’t mentioned in the section you point out. There’s obviously a difference between homosexual behavior (kissing, dating, etc) and homosexual relations.
@mark2ten@Mormonger@GayMormonMason Homosexual sin is equal to heterosexual sin. Calling “acting on” SSA a sin is too broad. “Sexual relations outside of marriage between husband and wife” is definitive. If you want to put fences around the law for yourself, do it! But don’t try to impose your fences on others.
